what color scheme would you suggest for this room?

I'm planning on getting a big sectional to replace the sofa, add a large area rug, and paint.  I can't decide what colors to go with in this room.   I prefer grey over tan/beige. Any suggestions?  Thanks!

The living room leads into this space and the wall with the windows continues into here so I need the colors to go well in here too.  One day we'll either paint or replace the cabinets with something lighter but that is several years down the road.
