Nice! I just finished this book and learned that it was common to keep several chamber pots stored in a sideboard in the parlor prior to bathrooms being the norm in houses. This allowed the so-called gentlemen to play their games, drink their booze, misbehave, and evacuate their bowels and their stomachs all in the same room. Nothing like chatting it up while Johnny is vomiting in the corner! This also explains why ladies never accompanied men into the parlor after dinner.
