I did my first triathlon of the season yesterday and really surprised myself. I had been training for a half until 3 weeks ago and knew my biking and swimming weren’t really where I wanted them to be. My sister convinced H and I to come up to do an Olympic distance tri with her (and bailed on doing it herself a week before) so I just wanted to use it to see where I was at. The conditions ended up being pretty good considering the spring we’ve been having. There was a big storm overnight but it cleared up enough to have the race. It was about 60 at the start so a little chilly but I’d so much rather have that than heat. The water was 66 but with a wetsuit it wasn’t that bad. The winds were 15+ mph though which I really felt on the bike
I ended up winning my age group and placing 7th overall. My splits were
I ended up beating my previous PR by just over a minute. I was really excited because I’m almost positive the swim was short (by 4-5 minutes for me) on my previous PR. I’m excited to really get into triathlon training for the summer now!

Thanks everyone! I was really excited with my run leg. The last Olympic one I did, I started out way too hard in the run and it was a brutal second half. I just looked at the splits on my watch and all my miles were within 5 seconds of each other.
Wow, way to go! Awesome time! Are you doing the olympic for Hy-Vee Tri in September?
I've wanted to do Hy-Vee since I moved to Iowa but vacation plans always seem to get in the way. We're going to be in the Canadian Rockies over that weekend this year. Rough, I know.
