It's like foam rolling x100 while being massaged with molten lava and broken glass.
I'm going back for more on Wednesday. I feel a ton better. The chiro (who is also running the same half as me) said that I will totally be able to run it.
Yup. My Sport's Chiro is currently doing this, combined with Graston. It's amazing and excruciating all at the same time. lol Good news about the half!!
I love it too. The only chiro in my area who's certified is out of network for my insurance so I have to pay out of pocket. It's still so worth it!
Mine is in network and I STILL pay $100 a visit. He does a combination of things insurance won't cover though. Just ART wouldn't be that much, and yes, totally worth it.

My insurance doesn't cover it but I pay for it anyway. I bruise all over every time. I'm going tomorrow afternoon. It helps my hips so much where I get pinched up from lifting and sitting incorrectly.

Hmmm....I wonder if that's what Dr. Joe is doing on me. I vaguely remember something being mentioned. He was talking so fast I couldn't keep up with everything. I even brought a notebook to take notes and didn't get to use it. I'll have to ask tomorrow. His web site says he does ART and Gratson. I just paid my normal specialist co-pay. Of course my first appt was Friday, in a few weeks I might get a bill.
ETA: after reading more, this is so what he did and wow - ya'll are right, just like my massages, hurts so good.
No Gratson though. I saw these in his office and thought - geez those look like torture devices...

lol I have no idea what the weird little hooked ones do, but I'm pretty sure my Dr uses the one in the upper left on my hamstring and knee. It's to help break up adhesions, and when they hit a sensitive spot (which the back and side of the knee is anyway!) it's pretty damn painful.

I *think* that's the hand/fingers, my doc's web site showed a few of these in action on the Gatson tab. Yeah, I'm thinking that's not very comfortable. I'm sure it feels better afterwards, hopefully anyway.

Too bad you dont live here, my girl+dude hooks. it. up. i wont say numbers because you will hate me.
OP, dont forget what I said about at least 3 times!! I would do my last one 2 days before the event, and then rock tape it. If you cant squeeze in a third, see about a massage. Attack it!

Well technically, since I'm hurt at the moment, I believe the ART is covered. It's the Gaston ($45), the machine he uses that's similar to ultra sound, but much stronger that's not covered ($45) & taping ($20). My insurance hates me. I would like to keep up ART on some sort of maintenance schedule (at which point I think my insurance would tell my to screw off), to get me through training, so I probably should figure how much just the ART is. I need to move to AZ. Lol

Yes, yes! I'm all over it. I'm going 2 more times this week and 2 or 3xs next week.
I just emailed my doctor about getting a referral for ART. I've been having some neck issues from training. I hope this helps me feel better!! And I hope it's covered by insurance.

My insurance only covers 20 visits per year, which is whack because I have scoliosis so I rely on ART for my back too (plus adjustment plus decompression). But once you use all your visits, my chiro switches to cash payment and that is based what you are able to afford. No athlete should go untreated!!
Unfortunately I had to attend a funeral service last week and the speaker told everyone to stand up and hug the person next to them because you never know what will happen. My chiropractor happened to be next to me and I grasped her and told her NOTHING COULD EVER EVER HAPPEN TO HER. EVER. lol. I'm so co-dependent.
I really need to do this. I should see if my insurance covers it or at the very least massage.
If you have chiropractic coverage, that's probably your best bet. If I can find a chiro in my network, I'd only have a $10 co-pay per session. Out of the 20 or so that are in my network here, none are ARL certified
The one I did find is really cool about working with no insurance. If I go in for adjustments + ART it's $$$, but the flat rate for ART out of pocket is $30 for about 15 minutes.
