What are you training for? 7.2 mile race in a few weeks - at 2:42 (the hottest time of day). The temperature is expected to be over 110. Sprint triathlon in July. Olympic in August. Hood to coast in August.
What is your training schedule for this week? I did track today, power meter intervals are tomorrow, bike and tempo brick plus masters is on thursday. I don't know anything else.
Any injuries, problems, or vents? nope!
Highlights from the last week? Probably my almost-50 mile bike ride on Sunday averaging 21mph. I also reached the final position of camel pose (head to ground). My only problem is once I get there, I am stuck, lol

What are you training for? Date? My 1st half on 10/13
What is your training schedule for this week? M - Yoga, Tu/Thur - 4 miles, Wed - Weights, Fri - Rest, Sat - 5 mi, Sun - 3 mi
Any injuries, problems, or vents? My calves have been getting progressively worse over the last couple weeks. Thought it was the hot weather/coming back after a stomach bug, but ended up with a strain. Got new shoes on Friday, but today will be my day to test them out.
Highlights from the last week? Not my highlight, but I watched my brother run in his first race (a half!) on Sunday. He totally smoked it - came in almost 10 min sooner than he was expecting. Gave me the motivation to really stick to my training and see my way through to October.

That's my anniversary! It's a great day! You'll rock your half!!! ;-)
gumi - We are going to have matching weather! Will I really adapt to it if I push through the first few awful months?
I am not familiar with Dubai, is it a dry heat?
When the air is dry, your sweat does a good job at cooling you down. I've done a few mid-day training runs with the temp over 100 and I really dont think its bad. But 80 and humidity? UGH. Gross.
I almost kinda like the heat because it's easier to warm up.

Chiming in in case Dubai isn't a dry heat. It was 93* & humid as hell at 6PM when I ran today. Honestly, it never doesn't suck, but you DO get used to it. Your body adapts on some level, & holy hell, does it pay off in the fall. Every summer I have suffered through has made me a stronger runner. I'd much prefer Gumi's heat, but the body will adapt to what it is given.

OMG. This does not work for me. I start suffering when it hits 70. And with the sun? Forget it. I feel like I'm in a freaking microwave. People keep telling me that it's because I have fair skin and/or because I'm a redhead, but that sounds kind of like BS to me. I can take almost any amount of cold, but this heat is killing me.

Definitely a dry heat. I still can't imagine that mattering when it is regularly like 110*. I have like zero experience with dry heat though.
Airport 5k June 22 and Firecracker 5 miler on the 4th of July!
What is your training schedule for this week?
4miles Sun/ 3 Tues/ 3 Thurs/ 4+ Sat
Any injuries, problems, or vents?
Plantar fasciitis AND achilles... the ortho told me to stop running. I laughed. This has been a problem for me for YEARS, even before running. I stand ALL day at work. Maybe THATS the problem?? But I'm being good and doing all my stretches and such!
Highlights from the last week?
Ran my first 4 miler!! I did it ONCE back in Sept, but that's it. (in the last 10 years, anyway!)
