sucked! I ran a half mile and then I had to stop. Less than two weeks until my half and my longest run was 9 miles. Even if my calf does start feeling better that's not enough, right?
I'm sorry. Is this your first half? You can survive it, but it probably won't be too fun, or pretty. Is there another one a month or two later that you can do instead? It really just depends on how you want this experience to go.
ETA: How long ago was your 9 miler & how did you feel?
It's my first and the third year that I've tried to run it. Clearly I shouldn't run this thing....the running Gods are against me. I should just take up Jazz dancing.
The 9 miles was a week ago, Sunday. Felt fine...almost pushed it and ran a little longer but I didn't want to stray from Hal's running schedule!! So much for that!
Well clearly the only answer is to prancercise the entire thing.
If you are OK with your time being slower than you had planned , and maybe even walking a bit, I think you can complete it. With your calf issues, I might be worried about pissing that off and hurting yourself. You'll just have to see how you feel, and what you're OK with. It totally sucks.
ETA: I'm stubborn as hell and would most likely totally do the half, I'm just trying to give more objective advice than I would give my hard-headed self.

If every year you try to run a half, and you get injured, then you are not ready to run a half marathon. I think part of remaining injury free is letting yourself slowly get to certain levels. Maybe you need a year to build a solid running base before you attempt to run a half marathon. Have you done a lot of 5Ks and 10ks? Looking back, this was my problem with the marathon. I've ran 4 marathons, trained for like 8, and even when I did make it to race day, I was injured by the end! But I never took a step back and tried to do things differently. I think I could train and race a marathon now. I dont want to anymore (ah, the irony!) but you see my point.
gumi, I was thinking this very thing earlier today. So what if I don't get to run it this year (again)! I definitely am stronger than when I started this and I run further now much easier. The bright side to all of this is that I am in the best shape I've been in a long time (well, except for my calf)and if I continue with my 5-6 mile runs consistently, I will get there eventually.
I'm so bruised from my ART session yesterday. I have finger mark bruises all over my legs.
