My first real triathlon is Sunday. Any last minute prep things I should do? Last minute tips?
I'm feeling zen-like about this now. I finally went swimming in a lake this week. Sunday was a mess, but I went again on Tuesday and it was awesome. I could swim properly (i.e. face in the water) without panicking. I covered maybe 500M but I'm confident I can do this on Sunday.
When you are done take a few days to reevaluate your results. I've found that that I only look for where things went wrong right away. So I look back later on and realize there were great things that happened in race day!
Can I ask a dumb question? Do you just dump your wet suit in your transition area? Mine is pretty easy to get off but I know I can't like toss it to my husband.
I like to take a few minutes alone in a quiet place to visualize my race. It really helps to calm the "do I have everything I need?!" nerves. Otherwise, I just always make sure to do a warm up swim. It never fails that I feel super breathless for the first few hundred meters in open water, and I would much rather get that out of the way in a warm up than in the race. You might consider laying out transition and doing a few run-throughs at home if you haven't done much of that before.
And yeah, just toss your wetsuit in your transition area. I usually put it behind my stuff or on my bag.
And then, you must come back and tell us everything!! Have fun!!
