We are having a sprinkler system installed and the plumber came out today to work on the water line. Good thing he did, he went into our crawl space (that we never go into) and he found an ant colony and water damage! This sucks, our house is only 4 years old, but no longer under warranty. I had seen a few ants near the stairs, but didn't think much about it. This SUCKS!
So I guess we need to find a carpenter to fix wherever the water is coming in from and an exterminator to get rid of the ants. I hope this isn't too expensive (seeing as I plan to quit my job on Monday). Thank goodness for E-fund.
Any recommendations for carpenters or exterminators in the Burlington area?

That totally sucks. I just got my house sprayed (inside only because of the rain) this morning. We used Pest-End Inc they are out of Derry, NH but they go all over. I have used them in the past for mosquito treatments in the backyard. I don't have any good carpenter recs at the moment I just had some windows put in and stuff done and all my contacts are 4-8 weeks out.
Thanks, guys! Ugh, I hope we caught it early. There were a lot of ants... I just called a pest company and they said $475 to treat them and includes a 9 month home care plan. That's more than I thought it would cost. Ugh, I hope I can find someone to do it cheaper!
bostonmichelle: thanks for the rec! Going to call them now.
I hope they can do a lot better for you!!! I was just on MM were they the ones that quoted you $275?
Actually, that was a guy out of Wilmington that had tons of good reviews on yelp. I think we're going to go with them. Once we get that done, we'll have to see how bad the water damage is. I wonder if home owners insurance will cover it.
noodleoo, how are your house problems? Were you able to find out where the water was coming from? Are the ants gone?
We're halfway there! Looks like the extermination took care of the ants. They told us to give it a few weeks to fully kill them all, but we haven't seen any since the treatment, except for a bunch of dead ones.
Next step is to call our builder to see if he can fix the water issue. I'm hoping he'll take care of it for minimal fee, even though our warranty is expired (it was only 1 year, we've been in the house for 4). We're waiting until after the holiday to call him. If he doesn't stand by his work, I'm worried how much it will cost to fix, so fingers crossed he's a good guy.
