I've seen the movie and I've been meaning to read the book for a while now. I liked it, even though it seemed that the author seemed to use commas way too much and in places where they weren't needed.
I liked how the movie followed the book very closely. I noticed that they only changed a few things.
i enjoyed the books (the first one was my favorite, the third book was my least favorite).
in typical fashion, i liked the first book better than the movie. i thought the movie was just okay.
i didn't have the same connections with the movie characters as i did with the book characters. i thought the movie lacked a lot of character development.

I LOVED this trilogy and I am not a big young adult genre fan.
The first movie was well done, but I didn't think it would have given me the connection with the characters that I had from the book.
The overall story arch is much more adult than what is directly shown in the first book. I'd say, you could stop at the first for a complete story, but if you read the 2nd, you'll have to read the third.
