I assume the consensus on this board is that it's unfair to draw conclusions about a woman based on her fingernails....LOL!
If her nails are always done/immaculate does this mean she has a lot of time and money on her hands? Or maybe just wants to make sure she always looks her best and is that a good thing or bad thing? Maybe that means she doesnt like to get her hands dirty. Should I assume if fingernails are well kept that other areas of her body are well kept as well?
If not well kept does that mean it could be the opposite of all the reasons above? Or maybe she has children and has no choice but to be hands on cleaning, cooking, doing laundry...etc.
Anyways my point is when you look at a man's appearance what are some red flags that you look for?
For instance what if a man had/did:
Wore wrinkled clothes Soft or rough hands Beer gut Over 30 and still wearing earrings Sloppy hair Better looking hair than you An ungroomed face Perfect tan in the middle of winter Cruddy fingernails Does he look you in eye when talking Was 35 and never realized you cant wear pleated pants to work
Do you find yourself drawing conclusions about men when you see their appearance?

Just for the record, any time I see a guy w/ pleated pants in the office now, I think of you lol.
IMO, red flags for me would be a guy who is clearly trying too hard. Tan, super white teeth, manicured hair/facial hair, etc. That's just not my style -- I go for the guys who are more laid back and 'country'. Not redneck...country. There's a difference That being said, I know there are plenty of women on here who would take the approach that guy who is 'country' doesn't care enough to try. Likely because they're more attracted to the guy I first mentioned. To each their own.
I do think it's safe to say that a DB is pretty easy to spot. And he's usually wearing a t-shirt that is 2 sizes to small. Just sayin'

I will admit that I judge a man based upon appearance at times. Some things, no. Like "soft or rough hands"; I really don't care. If you are wearing wrinkled clothes because we have been dating a year and you are running out in the a.m. to get me coffee--no problem. If you are wearing wrinkled clothes on a first date--uh, no.
Wore wrinkled clothes- Eh, more common than not, probably. Although I'd be super impressed by a man that always wore pressed clothes. Soft or rough hands- soft hands, ick. I like big, rough man hands. Beer gut- Depends on how big, generally nbd for me. Over 30 and still wearing earrings- to be judged on a case by case basis. Sloppy hair- depends on the length, probably. Better looking hair than you- I wouldn't really feel one way or another. An ungroomed face- turn off. Perfect tan in the middle of winter- high maintenance. Cruddy fingernails- fine as long as they're short. Does he look you in eye when talking- I mean, I want him to look me in the eyes, but not like a serial killer. Was 35 and never realized you cant wear pleated pants to work- lol, fine.

I never have my toes or fingernails painted because I manage to chip them 30 seconds after they dry. And the one and only time I ever had a professional manicure, I passed out from a bad reaction to the chemicals/fumes/something. No bueno. Not doing that again. I also bite my nails. I don't think guys judge too hardcore about that...women, OTOH....
Wore wrinkled clothes--Depends on the circumstance Soft or rough hands--Don't care, so long as they're bigger than mine Beer gut--Depends how big Over 30 and still wearing earrings--Depends on the guy and the earrings Sloppy hair--So long as it's not TOO sloppy Better looking hair than you--High-maintenance An ungroomed face--Don't care if you want a beard, but keep it under control. Not shaving on the weekend? NDB. Not shaving for a date? Not cool. Not shaving for work? Not cool. Perfect tan in the middle of winter--High maintenance Cruddy fingernails--Who cares? Does he look you in eye when talking--Yes, please. Was 35 and never realized you cant wear pleated pants to work--Meh...that can be fixed.

My nails are a mess too, which is funny because I'm so on top of everything else. I'm a horrible biter, have been able to stop before but start up whenever I'm stressed and then can't stop again. Like someone else said I don't think men care but I'm sure women notice. I even used to bite acrylic nails when I had those, it's amazing I still have teeth.
I try not to judge but I cant say that the beer gut or nasty nails/ teeth wouldnt be a turn off. I dont consider them bad people for it but wouldnt pursue a dating relationship with anyone that couldnt take care of themselves ( absent genetic issues) and not looking me in the eye is a deal breaker for dating or friendship. I would hope men dont judge on the fake nails ..some of us ladies have jobs that are not forgiving to artificial nails. But someone that is too high maintenance has usually been so involved in themselves that they dont think of others (not all. Some) which makes it a instant turnoff if all together
I bite my nails and I am sure people judge. They look bad. I have no defense. Otherwise, I take good care of myself in a non high-maintenance way. As for what I would think if guys did the following:
Wore wrinkled clothes - Depends on the circumstance Soft or rough hands - I like them rough. Beer gut - Eh it depends on how big and if they are overall healthy and physically fit. D has a bit of a gut but he runs marathons, hikes and is in the army and eats healthy so it's just how his body is shaped and not really a reflection of his habits or his level of fitness and health. Over 30 and still wearing earrings - Sometimes this could look cool. Sloppy hair - I don't care. Better looking hair than you - I don't care unless they spend hours on it to make it look that good. If it's naturally good, that is fine. An ungroomed face - Fine with me. Perfect tan in the middle of winter - I hate fake tans. Cruddy fingernails - I don't care as long as they are kept decently clean. Does he look you in eye when talking - I would like to be looked in the eye. Was 35 and never realized you cant wear pleated pants to work - I don't notice pants!
If he's too put together I find it a bit off-putting, I like a man's man...
Wore wrinkled clothes - Depends on the circumstance
Soft or rough hands - don't care either way
Beer gut - Eh it depends on how big and if they are overall healthy and physically fit.
Over 30 and still wearing earrings - Depends on the person but I probably wouldn't be attracted to it, not my thing.
Sloppy hair - I don't care.
Better looking hair than you - I don't care unless they spend hours on it to make it look that good. If it's naturally good, that is fine.
An ungroomed face - D hates shaving so he's usually sporting a goatee or beard before he gets around to shaving.
Perfect tan in the middle of winter - Ew.
Cruddy fingernails - Within 5 minutes of meeting D I told him his nails were disgusting... it was love He's in construction so his nails are pretty cruddy even with a lot of washing.
Does he look you in eye when talking - Love it.
Was 35 and never realized you cant wear pleated pants to work - Easily fixed
Really?? You'd potentially rule some one out based on fingernails? Shit, mine aren't nasty but they surely aren't polished either....because I'm a house cleaning-lawn mower fixing-bug smashing-bike chain fixing, fire pit building mom first and a sex kitten second!
As for the other stuff...sure we all judge about certain things! And I'll give you that certain things that would have made me cringe off the bat, might be endearing, with the right person, kwim?
I've been told more than once by guys that they actually do look at a woman's hands and judge based on how they look.
My thoughts on this stuff:
Wore wrinkled clothes If a guy always wore wrinkled clothes it would bother me. Lounging around or doing something casual - no big deal. Soft or rough hands I just like a guys hands to be bigger than mine. Beer gut Depends on how large a beer gut Over 30 and still wearing earrings Not a fan of earrings on men period. Makes me think Jon Gosselin. Sloppy hair Bleck Better looking hair than you Impossible, I have great hair An ungroomed face I don't mind the look of a little scruff but keep it neat. Perfect tan in the middle of winter High maintenance. Cruddy fingernails Bleck Does he look you in eye when talking This would make me think a guy isn't very confident Was 35 and never realized you cant wear pleated pants to work Bleck
