Morning ladies! I hope everyone had a great weekend:)
I didn't get to the farm G2G but it was because we found a place to live! We are moving to Waltham and will be living right on the Charles. I will be going from an hour commute that includes 95 to 4.6 miles of back roads. I think it's going to change my life.
Now I just need to decide how we will decorate since its a modern loft, I think we need some new furniture.
Saturday - I got sucked into working on my wedding album, I seriously spent all day working on it, holy time suck! But I'm really happy with it and can't wait for it to arrive.
Sunday - Went to the grocery store and just hung out with DH. Made calls to my dad and to my brother & sister-in-law as it was their 1 year anniversary!
I'm *freaking* out. I'm going to quit today. I'm supposed to meet with my boss in 30 mins and I'm still not sure what I'm going to say. Should I tell my coworkers via email or wait to tell in person? I'd rather tell in person but I'm afraid my boss will tell them before I see them. Ahhh!
Good weekend. The wedding was hard work, but it was awesome and our shots came out really nice. I was really proud of myself. Yesterday was beautiful, but we didn't too much because we were too tired. Mostly a catch up day.

Thanks, VTD! I am excited, and I really just want to get it over with! I can't find my boss though. Figures! I'll keep you guys updated.
Yay, welcome to the neighborhood, preppy! I'm sure you'll enjoy exploring Moody Street, it sounds like you're right in that area. Short commutes are awesome and I really miss having one.
My weekend was pretty good, though it flew by. We did Father's Day dinner on Friday night, spent as much time outdoors on Saturday as possible (wandered around Needham center, had some frozen custard, window shopping, hung out at in a friend's yard), and played volleyball yesterday afternoon. I am soooo out of shape after basically not exercising at all for the last year; everything is a little sore and tired, LOL.
Thanks! We will only be about two blocks from Moody Street, we drove around the neighborhood in the morning before we saw the place and it looks like there are a lot of restaurants. I didn't see a grocery store anywhere, what options will I have? Is there a trader joes or whole foods near by?

Moody Street is known as Waltham's Restaurant Row, though I think that's a little overblown. I like Little India and Erawan of Siam. Ponzu and Tom Can Cook are also decent. People love Lizzy's Ice Cream but I prefer the Richardson's they serve at Cabot's.
Groceries--there is a Hannaford's on Main St., a Stop & Shop on Pleasant St., and a Shaw's on River St. But what you really want to do is go to Russo's on Pleasant St. (technically in Watertown). The closest Trader Joe's and Whole Foods are both on Washington St. in Newton.
Russo's looks amazing and it is literally on my drive home since I work in Watertown. Thank you!!

I'm with Rock on Lizzy's vs. Cabots, but Lizzy's is still pretty good. Especially if you can walk to it. As far as Moody Street goes: The Gaff has a good beer selection and good pub food. Watch City is ok, but not great. We used to go to the Skellig ALL THE TIME when I lived over there, so I'm partial to its divey atmosphere. I went to Tempo once, but wasn't impressed (though that was years ago, when they first opened). Joe Sent Me and the Mad Raven over on Main Street are also decent pubs, (JSM has delightful sweet potato fries), and my coworker tells me In A Pickle has great brunch (though there's usually a line out the door). There's also good italian near by - La Campania, on Main Street heading towards Watertown, is my favorite, but I've heard decent things about Il Capriccio, too.
And definitely go to Russo's. Just know that it will be packed (likely) no matter when you go. And if you don't need a carriage, don't take one! The aisles are really, really narrow.
This is making me so excited to explore our new neighborhood. We live in a pretty suburban neighborhood now so I am really looking forward to be able to walk to so many places! August can't come soon enough!

Good luck, noodleoo! We had a good weekend. Went to a birthday party on Saturday. It was awesome. Then out to brunch for fathers day and to the park later in the afternoon. Very active weekend for the kids and no naps. Kid 2 is currently passed out on the floor. We did our usual park morning but it completely did him in.

I really like living west of the city. I moved south for a while, and I haaaated it. But part of that was because 93 is such a timesuck. (And also because my neighborhood sucked.)
I will say, I find Moody Street to be a smidge schizophrenic, though. It cracks me up that as you drive up the street it goes something like: yuppie/hipster bar, bodega, dollar store, ethnic food, yuppie bar. But some of the restaurants are great, and there's always interesting people watching. plus, the movie theater is right there. But be warned that there's a retirement home right behind it, so there's always a slew of retired folks at every movie passing the time, heh.
And Rock, we haven't been to Biagio. H won't go there because he couldn't stand the owners wanna-be Sopranos act on the Phantom Gourmet the few times we saw them on there. (See also: Strega.)

Except the owners of Biagio are the sons of Biagio DiGiacomo, who was very much affiliated with the mafia. (I did not see the Phantom Gourmet, though). The restaurant is decent, although I much rather fiorella's/la campania for Italian.
I agree about Moody Street being shizophrenic. Although lately it's turning into Little India so it's more like bar, Indian grocery store, Indian grocery store, dollar store, sari store, Indian grocery store/restaurant...
You are missing nothing. We used to watch it most weekends, and we got some decent recs from there. But the Andelman brothers are really annoying, SO ANNOYING) and it turned into them schilling for the same 5 restaurants over and over and over, and we couldn't take it any more.
And @donthasselthehoff, I didn't know that about them. Interesting.

Um, OK, I didn't know this.
I like Fiorella's as well, though I didn't appreciate the waitress-with-an-attitude when we were there a few weeks ago. Still haven't been to La Campania, have had mixed experiences at Il Capriccio.
Biagio is always in the restaurant on a day to day basis as well. He has sat my husband and I multiple times when we've gone in. He usually sits out on the roof deck smoking a cigar late night.
I think it's a seasonal thing, but Fiorella's had the most amazing pumpkin/butternut squash raviolis ever. Whatever sauce they used was beyond amazing. I could eat those for every meal until the day I die.
I've never been to Capriccio, but it gets relatively good reviews.
You guys are making me miss Waltham, more and more
Hi Guys! Today has been a bit nuts, but overall it went really well! My boss was surprised, sad to see me go, tried to convince me to stay, but in the end understood my reasons and accepted it. Although, then he called me and had me meet with a higher level manager who also tried to convince me to stay. I held firm. Then I had a long meeting with our HR manager, who is a really nice guy. He understood (I had talked to him before about some issues) and he was supportive (although he also tried hardheartedly to convince me to either stay or take another open position in another department!).
My coworkers understood, I got to tell most of them myself. Closing out the last 2 weeks is going to be tough, mostly because I feel terrible leaving at a tough time for our group. But I know this is best for me and I'm excited to figure out what my next step will be!
Thanks for all your support!
preppy: I love Waltham! We lived there for a few years. I miss the great restaurants and I used to love their farmers market! I'll have to get down there sometime soon.

Wow, I didn't know this! We had a strange experience with an older guy smoking a cigar on the balcony at Biagio. He ordered us an extra dessert and we tried to say no, but he was insistent and it was a little awkward! We figured he was one of the owners. The food was good though!
I haven't tried Fiorella's, I'll have to add it to our list. We did Il Capriccio for restaurant week and weren't that impressed. Biagio was also a restaurant week dinner (we're cheap!). I had the fig ravioli and it was SO good. Really sweet though, almost a dessert. I liked it, but I like sweet.

Glad it went well noodleoo! I've been to Fiorella's twice and its always been amazing.
My weekend was pretty quiet thankfully. Friday night I worked late on a deal in the office. Saturday DH and I spent time with our dads and my sister had her graduation party that night as well. Sunday we just hung out around the house and worked on our pool a bit. We also got our dog to swim for the first time and he wasn't loving it as much as we thought he would, it might have been too cold for him.
