DH and I planted a new flower bed along our fence this spring and I am having an awful time with slugs eating my plants. I know it's slugs because if I go out in the evenings I can find them all over a majority of the plants.
I have tried coffee grounds, beer in saucers, eggshells, and cornmeal in jars and the only thing that works is if I kill them by hand. I think they are starting to kill my dianthus and I'm wondering what else I should try. I know I can go and buy a spray but would love to try something organic if possible.
I sprinkle diatomaceous earth on the ground around plants that the slugs seem to like; it appears to make a difference. What's worse for me this year is the pill bug infestation, and the DE helps with that as well.
