38C to. 36DD here. Wearing my new bra for the first time today and hu shit guys. So comfy. Fits perfect. My straps haven't fallen down once!! I just ordered 3 more bras of the same brand on amazon, so I will have nude, black, strapless and racer back. Woo hoo!
I was going to buy bras at Lane Bryant today. One of their workers told me that they are having a "buy 2, get 2 free" sale starting Monday, June 24th! So if anyone likes their Cacique line, be on the look out! I like their balconette bras.
When I measured myself according to the Youtube video I was supposed to be a 38F so I ordered some from Amazon to try. But I have droopy, orangutan titties so I don't think it was the right way to measure for myself. When I tried on the 38Fs they were total kites so I returned them. I tried on a 38D today and the gore seemed to be in the right place and I didn't have quad-boob, so I'm going with that.

The reddit link I posted had a note saying that if you have "particularly pendulous breasts" that you can measure once the way the youtube video says to (bent forward with back parallel to the floor) and once just standing straight up (sans bra both ways of course) and you can average the number and see if that helps.
sawyerthedestroyer I know you mentioned this issue in the last thread too, so maybe this will help as well.

According to the linked video, I am a 34G. I followed Pinterest directions that were a bit more detailed and got a 34F. I think I probably am a bit more of a 34E, my cups aren't completely filled. Follow the tutorials, then go to a store and try a bunch on. My boobies are MUCH happier in the 34Fs, though, although I'm still getting used to the tighter band size (I wore a 36D before).
What's the Pinterest one?
Can't find it. But, in addition to going parallel to the floor and measuring bust, it wanted you to sit up straight and do it, and then lay flat on your back and do it, and then average the 3 bust measurements. It said it was a good method for moms and others whose tissue may not be as dense as it used to be. Fuck gravity.

They have great brands and a lot of them are free returns. I got 6 to try on and they were all just one band size too small, so I returned them and ordered 4 more.

I might have to do this. I need them to measure me again. I've lost weight and all my bras are big now.

Having worked for LB in the past, their way of measuring, while generally accepted, is still not technically "correct". You'd do best to measure yourself iin the way detailed in the video. I'm sure you could even ask one of the LB associates if you could just borrow their measuring tape and do it yourself in the fitting room if you don't have your own tape.

I've always had someone else measure me. The bras always seem to fit better than what I had before/correctly.
I haven't measured myself, because I was always afraid I would get it wrong. Maybe I will give it a shot this weekend.
Am I the only person who measured themselves and came up with the same size I have now?
My rib cage is 35in, so that puts me in either a 34 or a 36, depending on the bra, and I have practically no boobs, so if I'm in the 36 I'm usually an A and if I'm in the 34 I'm usually a B.
At least I'm not the only one who has issues with VS bras. I have a few that fit correctly, but it's a pain in the ass to try on every bra in the store and come up with one that works. Their bras all fit so differently.
I've had good luck at Soma, and found a couple of bras at Belk. I wish there were a Nordstrom near here.
I tried to explain all of this to my mom and she refused to listen she kept on yelling YOU ARE NOT A D! I just stopped and let her KOKO with her crappy boob support.
I called my Mom & started explaining the video and she was like "Oh, yeah, I knew that; you measure X, and X, and subtract those 2 to find your correct size. I knew that." And I was like "HEY ASSHOLE WOMAN IN CHARGE OF RAISING A FELLOW WOMAN- THANKS FOR THAT INFO WHEN I WAS LIKE 12!!!!" And she goes "Oh yeah, I guess I probably should have explained that to you." Yeah, Mom, you think? 25 frigging years old and I have to figure out how to work my tits from YouTube.
Subtracting the band measurement from the bust measurement is generally the standard, but most people just measure while standing up and while wearing a bra. And that is the part that tends to make all the difference.

When I told my my mom about it she said "I'd you are a DD I must be a XX lol
Just FYI, there are Panache bras on Zulily right now. I've seen them mentioned as a good brand. I just bought one in my "new" size, 34FF. I thought it was worth the $13 gamble. I've worn 36D forever. We'll see how well I sized myself!
thank you for this! I can't find 30D anywhere without driving at least an hour and a half!
Um. I am wearing a 38 DD now. I measured according to the video and came up with a 38 H. Is that even possible? How can the cup go up that much without a change in the band? fuckstick, help me!

What was your bust number? and when you were measuring your band (all the way up under your boobs) were you measuring TIGHTLY?

Bust number was 48 leaning over, 46 for both sitting up and lying down. Band measure (37) was very tight and all the way under.

Do you currently perform the "swoop n' scoop" to get your boobs in the cups? That really makes a huge difference.
Honestly I'm not 100% sure about the why, but I was wearing a 38C before and turns out I'm a 40F so I'm left scratching my head on that too. All I can really say is try the 38H on with the swoop n scoop method (I bend over and kind of jiggle my boobs into the cups then pull all the wobbly shit under my armpits forward and then clasp the bra). You might want to order 2 at a time in different cup sizes, so a 38H and a 38G, just so you can try them on at the same time and see how each feels, then return whatever isn't right.
Am I the only person who lives in sports bras?? I swear they are somehow more flattering? I know! I'm pretty thin and have fake boobs, maybe that's why I don't need/want the lift of a regular bra.
Also, it's not that I don't believe people when this convo comes up here or IRL with my friends, but it is the band size that always perplexes me. I'm a 0/2, extra small and I swear I'm a 34, maybe sometimes 32. How are my bigger friends a 30?? What am I failing to understand? It seems like it would be so uncomfortably tight that the extra lift wouldn't be worth it (again, speaking from someone who only wears Lycra bras if at all).

1.) Its possible you're not really a 32/34 2.) Its possible they're not really a 30 3.) Rib cages vary, amount of fat and tissue varies, etc. They might be bigger because they have more fat but they might be wearing too small of a band size and are squishing that fat/stretching out a 30 band. Who knows.
Basically it comes down to 2 things. 90% of women are wearing the wrong size bra, and everyone is different.
