We need to buy chairs for our living room soon and are considering the two below. We're going to look at more chairs this weekend by a local manufacturer, but in the event that doesn't work out, we'll go with one of these.
I don't have a pic, but the other furniture in the room is a karlstad couch, a wood table (either my round 1950s table or my ikea surfboard table, and two upright pianos. The walls are painted, there are rugs to put down, and art to hang, but that stuff shouldn't impact the design of the chair we pick. The pics below are just for style, not color--they can be upholstered in the same fabrics/colors, which we'll choose once we decide which chair to go with. They're the same dimensions, they're both comfortable (the first is a tad cushier), but I think the second is more visually interesting.
So, which do you like better? I know this style is not for everyone; so, if you hate them both, that's fine too. I'll probably repost on Monday with the local options.
ETA: The third chair is the last option we're considering. Yes, it' completely different than the first two, but it has three things going for it. 1) It's by a local company, 2) it's a swivel chair, and 3) it's also a glider. It's equally as comfortable as the first two chairs, and its footprint is a couple inches smaller than the other two. With this new information, does anyone want to change their minds or not so much?
I looked at all of them again, and I'm going to cave to peer pressure and go with #2. Unless you have a window with an awesome view you want to be able to swivel around to see like my parents do. Then I'd vote #3. Comfort and function sometimes trump style a bit.
Not an awesome view, but 12' of windows with a nice view and a great fireplace (not our stuff):
I had my own piano already, and they were going to kill the piano you see in that picture. Kill a piano?!?! I have convinced myself that one day I'll have a dueling piano party.
