The dog stayed here 11 days, pooped on my carpet several times, and wanted to eat my bunny for a snack.most people wouldn't watch a 8 year old 150 lbs Rottie although she was very sweet.
I had to help her walk because she has a bad leg. She's old and is severely overweight (so am I so I can't judge that part).
We never discussed money but they paid me $100 got 11 days. I was was expecting closer to $200. It's my fault got not being clear so i'm not upset with them in any way.
I'm just wondering what would have been a decent amount would be considered normal. Maybe the $100 is the right amount?
I work at a vet clinic with a boarding facility and I also do petsitting on the side.... if a 150# dog boarded with us it would be close to 35-40$ a night. As a pet sitter I would at least ask for 30$ a day. Sorry, but you got ripped off.
I paid my cat sitter $100 for 7 days at Christmas. She had to scoop the litter box once, and she came to play with the cat each day for an hour or so. The cat did poop on the floor once, on day 7. So that was bad.
We pay $50 a day for our 2 dogs (if it was one, it'd be $25). We take them to our petsitter's house and she walks them a few times a day. If a friend watched my dog, I think I would treat her to a nice dinner or a gift certificate unless we agreed on a payment beforehand.

We just paid a friend 75 to take care of our dog and cat for 4 days. She tried to say she didn't want any money at all but I insisted. Then the dog ended up having diarrhea in her crate which she never does! So my friend had to clean up and wash her bedding. So I felt bad and bought her chocolates too, lol.

I'm not really even friends with her. This is only the second time I've seen her since 7'th grade. She was actually my middle school bully and it turned out we were cousins and reconnected on FB a few years ago.
I should have spoke up about how much money I wanted or expected before I made the offer so it was my fault. I just figured it would be more. I paid $50 per day for someone to watch my 2 dogs and then gave an extra $50 when the person mentioned my dog peed in their house on the first day.
I don't think I will watch her again because having 3 dogs, a rabbit, and J was too much. I wouldn't mind trying to be friends with her though but I might lose out on that. We had things in common like Dads dealing with dementia, infertility, loving animals, and being Social Workers. . I liked the idea of having a relative too since all I have is my Sister left.
I'm rambling now. Salted Watermelon Vodka and diet Sprite. yum.
I don't know if I would pay a friend to dog sit, unless we were in vastly different financial situations (way younger, or in school), especially in their house. I would be more likely to give them a gift. But it sounds like she did pay you, so in that circumstance I would say $30-$50/day depending on where you live. It is $50/day here for around the clock care like that. And I don't think it is your fault for not saying something at first, but when she brought out $100 I might have said something. Probably not though. It is just so awkward to do money with friends.
I am currently dog-sitting (not for a friend - for friends of my friend's parents). Two dogs, I'm staying at their home and getting $25/night. It's super easy, but I should have asked for a little more - enough to net $200 for the week. Other times I've dog-sat, I've gotten $50/night for three dogs and a cat.
