YOU need an OtterBox. Not only would it prevent that sort of damage, the silicon makes it stick to the top of cars! Mine made it on a six-block trip once and was still sitting there!

It still worked! They gave me $50 for it at AT&T.

I had a Lifeproof case on it forever but it was one of the first generations of the case and the plastic started to split, so it was naked for about 4 months before I killed it.

I'm now nesting from my new phone which is safely secured in an otterbox.
