Boyfriend just decided to wash out his super dusty hiking shoes in the bathtub. Our bathtub is now filled with dust and dirt and mud. WTF were you thinking?! Could you not go outside and use the hose?!
Oh well, now he has to clean the bathroom not me. It is sort of a win...

You would dump me in a hot minute if you knew the gross cleaning that goes on in our bathtub. I'm looking at you, shoes with dogshit on them and kitchen wastebasket. And where else would you wash your toilet plunger?

Oh Mel, if you only knew all of the lovely things that have been cleaned in our bath tub.... mud is not that bad IMO. but you get a freshly scrubbed tub out of it, right? If the answer is no, then yes, you should dump him immediately! LOL

Why would you all not take them outside and wash then with a hose first? Boyfriend told me this was normal and I said no way the bathtub is for people and the hose is for everything else.
My bathtub is super shiny today so I think I will keep him. Also, he brought me a cupcake.

OK guys, you have convinced me he isn't too bad. The cupcake was delicious.
I do find it interesting that even after living together for five years we still find stuff like this that was done completely differently by our parents where both of us look at each other and say "why would you do it like that?!?"

My main reason is that I like to clean stuff with HOT HOT HOT water. Rinsing a trash barrel with cold water just isn't going to cut it for me. The bathtub is the only place big enough for stuff like that that has hot water ... I've never understood why people think a rinse with a garden hose is sufficient to clean something that is germ encrusted and stinky.
Oh, and you better believe the tub gets a date with the bleach bottle after this kind of thing, too.

MixedBerryJam, he totally said it was because of the hot water. I thought it made more sense to rinse stuff outside do get most of the dirt out and then wash them inside the tub for hot water purposes. But I have mostly moved on.
I told him I posted this online and everyone said he was right and now he is gloating. It is almost worse than the mud in the tub. Good thing he is cute.
tiramisu, you're totally right. He just keeps saying "see, I told you it is totally normal". My only consolation is that I was telling my mom this story and she immediately said "why wouldn't you take the shoes outside, that makes no sense!" Without any context for the story.
