A friend shared her husband's facebook status, which was this:
I love my wife more than any other person on the face of this earth. If my wife and kids were in a boat that was sinking and I was the only one who could swim I would save my wife. That is how the Bible commands that I love my wife. She comes before even my children.
I will love her and I will continue to lay down my life for her daily even if she despises me or even if she ignores me or even if she doesn't love me back.
My love for her has nothing to do with what she does for me. I love her because God has called me to lay down my life for her.

"I was thinking about getting off on demand, but it sounds like I should be glad that I didn't"
I'm okay with the "I'd save you first" sentiment. Personally, I'd be pissed at DH if that was his how he felt about our daughter now. But it is fine in abstract for someone else.
His reasoning though: "God commands me to love her first" rather than genuine feeling is fucked up. Especially the way he phrased it. I'm not big on how the bible views kids. The bible allows you to sell your daughters too. I'd hope he wouldn't do that.

I would hope my DH loves me enough to know he should always take care of our children no matter what. I would hope my DH loves me enough on his own that he doesn't have to pretend to do so because God told him.
Friend also shared this status of his yetsterday- it's like CHRISTmas!
