(sorry for the dark pic)
We are not bathtub people at all, obv since our laundry hamper sits in the tub, lol. We're not concerned w/ resale as we plan on being in this home for quite a while. Plus, we have 2 tubs upstairs. We're in the middle of what I thought was a small bathroom reno (pull down the wallpaper and add texture and paint.) However, now I'm wondering if we should pull the tub while we're at it. Removing the tub has always been in the long-term plans. I'm just unsure what to put in it's place. We could expand a closet (we have his and her closets on either side of the tub) but we don't really need the additional hanging space. I'm a firm believer that one can never have too much storage, so maybe a built in dresser? The exterior wall is siding so the window could be manipulated. However, I do really like the light from outside. Or a make-up desk with drawers? I don't have a spot to sit down to get ready and I'm sure I would like that. Any thoughts? wwyd?

I think big tubs are stupid too. We have one, and it holds all my cleaning supplies, I soak stained laundry in a bucket in the tub, etc. what a waste. That said, I would never spend money getting rid of it, there is too much else I would rather spend my money on .
If you want to get rid of it, I would tend to leave the closets as is, and put in a low dresser or desk that would come up to the bottom of the window. If it is a dresser, use it for towels, bed sheets, etc. if it is a desk, put a mirror and some lights and use it for hair and makeup.
You can never have too much counter space or too much storage n a bathroom. What about a built in with space for a hamper and a spot to sit and get ready.
My parents built a house with a similar soaking tub because they thought it was a good idea in the moment. Turned out to be hard to clean, expensive to fill and pretty much unused.
They're planning to install a shower if they decide to keep the house. Their place in FL has a huge shower the size of a soaking tub and they love it. I'm guessing it's about 10' x 5'. They have a high window in their shower which is really nice.
Do you already have a large walk-in shower? If your closets are already good sized, I think a vanity or built in dresser (which could be used for linen storage if someone doesn't want to put clothes there). Is there a good way to put extra lights for makeup application if the outside light isn't enough?
If it were me, I'd make that area a huge walk in shower then take whatever you have for shower space and do built in drawers, a vanity, a linen closet, shelves over that.
That seems like a really big space for a closet too me where the tub is.

Thanks all!! Our current shower is a really nice size and space... No need to switch that up. I'm leaning toward awesome built-ins which we could really use, or a vanity for me. I wish there was a way to have both. With a vanity, I could certainly have drawers but not as many as I'd like..... Hmmmmm....
