I always have the radio on or my phone plugged in through the aux outlet. The only times I remember driving in silence were when I was extremely upset - I needed silence to concentrate.

I have to listen to music when I'm driving, unless I'm somewhere that I really have to concentrate on what I'm doing and then I prefer quiet. Otherwise, the radio is cranked and I'm singing at the top of my lungs, usually with my kids in the back begging me to stop, lol.
I usually listen to NPR or an audio book for longer trips. Music occasionally.
My husband accidentally left the lights on in the car a few weeks ago and the battery died. The radio went into safety mode, and we didn't have the key to turn it back on. We went for a few weeks without radio and it drove me freaking crazy.

I actually prefer the quiet when I'm driving. I hate our local radio stations, and I can't concentrate on audio books because I forget to listen to what they're saying.
We read through the entire series of Hunger Games on our trip to Whistler, it was actually annoying because we planned on enjoying the gorgeous drive from Seattle up there, and all we could think of is WHAT WILL KATNISS DO NEXT!
I enjoy quiet time in the morning especially if I'm feeling particularly stressed. Like everyone else, it really depends on my mood. I will never listen to radio with commercials though. I can't stand radio commercials.
It depends. If DS is in the car he's probably talking non stop and I can't hear him if the music is on. Same thing if SO is in the car, so we can talk. If it's just me, I usually have the radio on. Usually music or the comedy channel. Sometimes I want silence though.
Either. Usually the radio is on, but first thing in the morning, I prefer silence. Also, sometimes I'll have long conversations with myself and need silence for that, lol.
I always have something on when I'm driving. Usually I'm listening to the radio. I have tried to listen to audiobooks but I find myself daydreaming or tuning out the book and I always miss the best parts!
Mostly have the radio; I have a subscription to Sirius so something is almost always on. Now during the school year, if I've had a particularly bad day, I like silence since I haven't had it all day.

Depends. Mostly silence, but every now and then, I like to open the sunroof and rock out. But I have to be in the right mood.
H laughs at me sometimes because he likes his music super loud, and it is just TOO DAMN LOUD for me. Grumble. Get off my lawn. Or I'll hit you with my walker.
Depends. If I have a lot to think about it's quite. If I'm hyper and excited something fast tempo. In the early morning I listen to country. Rock and pop make my head fuzzy if I'm not awake!
When I drove two hours (one way) to class I used to listen to books on tape audio books.
