The past two mornings he's woken up with blood on his sheets and dried on his nose. In the past, he's only gotten a couple of bloody noses when he's knocked his nose. I'm imagining all kinds of horrible things right now. I'm going to call the doctor's office once they open.
That was my thought, but we have a humidifier in his room and he was fine all through winter and up until now. I do need to change the filter in his humidifier. Target run!
Have you been giving him aspirin or something with aspirin in it? I used to get horrible bloody noses when I was younger and found out it was because I was taking the occasional aspirin for a headache.
It's probably just dry air. J has these occasionally because of allergies and the fact that he'll start picking his nose in his sleep without realizing it.
how old is he? kids get bloody noses at night often. saline nasal spray, at least 5-6 times per day. Vaseline or water based lubricant in the nose morning and night, humidifier in his room. this formula works most of the time.
and I feel like I need to add the disclaimer that you can not give aspirin to kids. at all. baby aspirin is a horrible name because it can actually put kids into liver failure.
Probably dry air from the a/c, even with the humidfier.
When I was a kid, my mom used to take a q-tip and roll it to coat very lightly in Vaseline. Then she'd swab the inside of my nose thoroughly. It really helped prevent the dry cracks that often caused my nose to bleed.
