Saturday I did a ton of errands - Burlington Mall, ON, Target, Mani/Pedi, MB, Gas and bank.
Sunday we went down to Newport. I had a great time with my mom at the flower show. The theme was Jade so all the arrangements were asian themed. There were some very creative ones! It was such a beautiful location, it was in one of the mansions, so you walked out on the back lawn over looking the ocean and they had a live band and lots of little shop/tents set up. It was fun mother/daughter bonding time! E survived one on one time with my dad!

I'm at my MIL's house for a few days while my son and I look at colleges. This is not my favorite place to be, by a longshot. My MIL has a heart of gold, but omg it's boring here. All she does is watch Lifetime movies and crime dramas. So I pour myself a drink, and go to put ice in it, but I've knows for years that the ice dispenser on the fridge door isn't working and I now can't open the bin in the freeze to get some cubes by hand, so I ask her where the ice is. "I don't keep ice in the house anymore," she responds, like I've just asked her if I can shoot up in her living room in front of company. OMFG, who doesn't keep ice in the house? I gave my kids double allowance this week in exchange for them not complaining about being here.

Hang in there. Hope the boys like the college visits anyway!
I don't keep ice in my house. I like my drinks at room temp. I know this probably makes me a freak!
Quiet weekend. DH worked on his gear all day Saturday, so DD and I went to a local playground in Sharon and I drooled over all the cool old houses around there. Sunday DD and DH sat in the pool for 2 hours while I went to church and got stuff to grill. The entire weekend's worth of meals came off that thing, and they were amazing.
I also did some shopping. I was chased down the aisles in Macys because I had the audacity to take a pair of shoes out of the shoe department while I was shopping for other stuff. Apparently you can only purchase your shoes there so the associate can get her 1% commission. On a $20 pair of shoes...
MixedBerryJam, hang in there! What schools are you visiting?
Not that we're aiming high or anything, but we're looking at Columbia (ddh's alma mater), Fordham, NYU and Sarah Lawrence (my son's first choice). These are likely the only non-New England school he wants to look at, except that he's been invited to apply at Rochester also, since he won an award there (see how I slip that little braggedy-brag right in there) so we have to look there, too. But I think it will end up between Sarah Lawrence and Tufts. Now if either of these schools did a major in theatre-classics-journalism, we'd be golden.
MixedBerryJam - good luck with the in-laws. Mine tells me we are rich/so lucky every time they come over and we have burgers because we can afford vlassic pickles and not just the store brand. What colleges are you visiting?
My weekend was pretty good, had a few showings on a house I'm trying to sell and relaxed by the pool the rest of the time. DH did the grocery shopping and pool store run while I was working so nothing exciting which was great.

Not that it is anywhere near New England, but he should really look at Northwestern!
We did absolutely nothing this weekend and it was awesome. Much needed. I did do a tiny bit of online shopping, as my former MIL (I don't like "ex" for someone I love so much!) really liked a pair of earrings I was wearing the other day so I ordered a pair for her. We did do grocery shopping but that was it for leaving the house.
This is my first official day of summer vacation as a teacher. Every other year I've had school and/or work to contend with. DD is at her grandparent's and I just got home from the gym. I'm heading to Macy's soon to check out a few couches, since H really wants to replace our sectional soon. I'll probably look at some sandals while I'm there since many of my favorites have seen better days (gotta love one-stop shopping!)

Just don't tell MM this lest they have a conniption over spending tuition on such non-practical majors Sounds like your DS is looking at some great options. Good luck to him!
I'm only now just able to discuss his major with lolling in his face ... "I'll major in theatre, mom, and then I can be a professional stage manager" ... Yes, I know there are professional stage managers out there, but ...
And rikki, you reminded me that we ARE actually looking at Northwestern. His bff is starting there in Sept, and I've never been to Chicago, so we agreed it was worth a weekend visit!
It was good - Saturday I had a baby shower in Worcester to go to, so that took most of the day. Sunday I did the BAA 10K in the morning. It was God awful hot even at 8 AM, and I hadn't really trained so I had a crappy time for me (1 hour, 1 minute), but it was a fun race (although turnaround races can also be disheartening, because you just reach mile 2 or something and all of a sudden the elite runners are zooming past you on the other side, lol).
After the race I made DH take me to Shake Shack so I could gorge (I run so I can eat) and it was delicious.
Good weekend! Sat we went to an amazing wedding! It was so much fun, we danced a ton and really enjoyed it. It is so much more fun to go to a wedding as a guest than vendor. The appetizers were so good! We stayed at a hotel, which was good bc H was pretty drunk. He was actually getting on my nerves, being pretty obnoxious. I don't like it when he drinks a lot, I'm not wired to do that so it bothers me when he does. But anyway, we had a great time.
Sunday we were exhausted and it was kind of a waste of a day. I napped, did laundry, he grocery shopped. It was too hot to go outside. I need a friend nearby with a pool. I hate this weather! It is so sad, it is always either too it or too cold.
This is my last week at work and it hasn't sunk in yet. I have no idea what I'm going to be doing this time next week! I guess that's a good thing?

Lord beer you strength, MixedBerryJam. I hope you can get through the visit without wanting to hurt someone. I can barely make it through two hours with my in-laws without wanting to run screaming, and I (mostly) like them.
Weekend was too, too short. Friday, I got out of work early then had to take Jack to the vet. Turns out he has a skin infection, womp womp.
Saturday, we mostly lounged around. Then we went to dinner at Craigie for a belated birfday/I survived Round 1/H got a temp job celebration. It was so delicious. And oh man, I am still dreaming about that dessert. It was dark chocolate cake with beet/white chocolate ice cream and a beet coulis. I don't know how the heck they stumbled across those flavor combinations, but lord, did it work.
Sunday, we drove out to western MA to visit my grandfather, who's doing much better. Had lunch with my mom, then turned around and drove home. Yesterday was my flex day, and H started his temp job, so I had the house to myself. Unfortunately, I spent most of the day cleaning/running errands, but I still snuck in some couch time. I had dinner with one of my BFFs from high school who's working out this way for a few weeks. We went to La Casa de Pedro in Watertown and had yummy sangria (though a little too light on the wine, heh), and some delicious tapas.

Tufts has Classical Studies as a major but not Theatre or Journalism. I also think they are close to $60k a year for tuition alone so although I am totally not opposed to someone pursuing a career future in those areas, I don't know that you would want to spend the kind of money you would at Tufts as I don't think the salary he'd be looking at will compensate for it. Though I could be wrong, I don't know what the going salary is for a stage manager is

Not arguing, and I could certainly be wrong, but I think they have a theatre technology major; if not a major, then a program of concentration in theatre tech, which is his interest. He also has been thinking about an interdisciplinary program there, too. What I like about Tufts is that it's only about a mile from the house, and he's only going to be 17 when his freshman year starts. May be a moot point, since that big-city-hussy Sarah Lawrence has now batted her eyes at him. (seriously, I think SLC would be a perfect fit for him!)

Hmm interesting. Though I was wrong, there is a Drama major after all. lol Shows what I know I totally get the appeal of it being so close to home. Though coming from the Student Affairs area, I see how important it is for students, especially freshman to have that live on campus experience. Anyway, I didn't mean to derail the conversation As I'm sure you can guess I am very invested in the student experience, hell I'm making a career of it after all lol
