So, we decided on a comic book themed nursery. These are super popular these days, but I have always wanted a comic book room, lol, and I just couldn't get Matt on board when we were having a girl, now I get to. The room we have to work with is a nice green already, with cherry laminate floors. We just painted it before A was born and put the new floors in, so we're going to keep that. I think we're going to do a dark wood for the furniture.
I have collected comics since I was a little girl, so when I'm home at my mom's, I'm going to go through my collection and pick some to frame and use to modge podge letters for Carter's name in the wall. I've also got a bunch of action figures too. I think I'm going to make the crib sheets, skirt, curtains, etc, because I'm either finding toddler bed sets or outrageous prices on Etsy, like $250 for a freaking 4 piece set.
I'm kind of loving this fabric:
We also bought these vintage looking tin posters already of Green Lantern (one of my favorites), Wolverine (Matt's favorite), and Captain America.
Sound any good?
Other KU mommas, get in here and talk plans for nurseries! Or, toddler rooms if you're changing yours anytime soon.
I love this idea, it sounds a lot like what we did. We have the wolverine, captain america and iron man tin signs in Logan's room, and I used that same fabric in a quilt I made him.
The Avengers are my SS's favorite. He and DD share a room and half of it is painted pink with all her things and furniture, and the other half is painted blue with all his Avengers decor. I know what tin wall mountings you're talking about- they're adorable! You can buy then from street vendors in NYC for supppppppper cheap!
creamsiclechica That was Cam's nursery!!!!! He had a Marvel only comic book room, it was AWESOME. (We moved when he was 1 month, so now his room is a playroom and still very comic book-y)
We have these signs in all of the characters:
This lamp:
And then we used shadow boxes and displayed DH's old comic books.
And he has lots of super hero blankets.
He has this patterned Capt. America blanket:
And then my MIL crocheted him a Capt. America shield blanket.
I looooove this fabric - I want to make Cam a pillow or blanket with it:
Superhero rooms are the BEST. We already knew we wanted to do this kind of nursery right when we got pregnant, so we were *secretly* hoping for a boy first because we were so excited to do it!!!! We are crazy over anything superheroes, lol
Very cute! I also love the name idea using the comic books. Super cute. You are having a carter too? Imthinkmi missed you were having a boy.
Our nursery is nautical. I love love love it. We painted navy stripes on a wall, did a compass of north south east west, hung anchors, ships wheels, buoys, lobster traps, fishing nets, etc. I have little boats on shelves and striped curtains and rods with twine. We painted four oars. It is really cute. The rug and bedding is PBk and fits perfectly. I still need to add a few more touches after he arrives but I love it.
I love it!! You ladies are way ahead of me. I've pinned a few ideas and saved some things on the houzz website, but we don't have any idea what we are going to do. We've been painting and furnishing our bedroom. Once DH puts the flooring down, we will start on nursery. kdrake8 and creamsiclechica - are you buying another crib? We are thinking about moving C to a big girl bed with rails once the baby moves to his nursery after a few months. We aren't sure if this is a good idea or not, but we already have 3 beds and the crib in our house. I'm curious what you ladies are thinking.

We are doing another crib.
With the move to my ILs in August and then to the new house in Sept, I don't want to throw too many new things at her. We have only been getting good night sleep for like 2 months. I a, hoping the moves don't throw her off. And I don't want her getting out of her bed wandering in a house none of us are used to.

Ahhhh thank you all so much! I am SO excited about this room, you have no idea! Thanks for all the other good ideas sprinkle and ladybug, and silver, how did I know we'd be on the same page as this we just did a fish tank in A's room, and when we were getting it, I saw all this super hero fish tank stuff, so I think he'll be getting one of those at some point too, lol.
We're doing a new crib. A's is a convertible, so it doesn't make sense to me to use hers and buy a new toddler bed. We'll probably get another convertible for C too, just to eliminate having to buy tons of furniture.
Teamhayes, that sounds so cute, PIP when you can, I'd love to see!! I'm excited to see all the new nurseries, girls. Trudy is right, it's the second best part!
Matt's going to get the room ready while I'm gone, so when I get back mid July, we can hopefully get the furniture ordered and I can get started on the bedding, decor.
