I'm feeding DS 5-6 ounces 6x throughout the day. It seems that other babies on my BMB are doing bigger bottles 4x per day. This might sound stupid but its hot out. If I change his schedule, then what if he gets thirsty? Aren't they only supposed to have a tiny amount of water? I meant to ask the pedi at his appointment last week and forgot.
Well let me ask another question. After I'm done feeding him, he seems pretty pissed off but stops fussing after a minute or so. I figured his tummy doesn't know its full yet because he chugs it but maybe he's still hungry?

He might be. I would add another ounce and see what he does.

Julia is 6 months this week and she drinks 4 8ounces bottles a day. We just started solids so she's not really taking a lot, and a little water in a sippy cup.

Ditto Tamb. I also stopped paying attention to what my BMB was doing in terms of feeding because we were so far off of the crowd and it stressed me out.

I mostly don't care but this is something I've been thinking about for a little bit and it came up over there today. It would be nice to go down to 4 bottles a day instead of 6 if he wants to do that but I don't know how to tell if he wants to or not.

I was doing 5 ounce bottles and she was sleeping through the night, then one night she woke up in the middle of the night and drank a whole other 5 ounces. The next day I bumped her up to 6 ounce bottles (5 times a day) and she STTN again. Then I went to 7 ounces 4 times a day to see how she did and it was great, and then just recently went up to 8 and it's been hit or miss-Some days she drinks all of them no problem, other days/some bottles she leaves an ounce.
I know people say you can't over-feed a baby but he has never left a single drop in the bottle in his life. So I think I really could overfeed him. I think he would just eat forever lol.
I'll try 7 oz and see. Its also hard because at daycare one of the afternoon ladies feeds him too much. I bring 4 bottles as a precaution but he never drinks the last one at DC unless she is on duty. She will give him his 4th bottle when he ate 2 hours prior and say he was hungry. I've seen her with the babies, she has very little patience and I think she does it to shut them up. I never know when she will be in there in the afternoon. She hasn't been with the little babies for a while but it throws a wrench into the whole feeding thing so I worry that if I send it she will be on duty and mess it up.
G eats 6 oz 6 times a day. And also baby food once a day. We bumped him up to 7oz for a few days about 3 weeks ago, but he was spitting up a lot more, so we went back down to 6oz. He seems happy. I say just do what is working for you and your child. If you think he still seems hungry after feeding, bump it up one ounce.
Yeah the boys were eating I think 7oz at a time by then? But they're, obviously, gigantic. We were eating every 4hrs because of naps so that's why we had to change their eating schedule (they napped SO much better when we went to a 4hr schedule). Otherwise we probably would have stuck to more often, less each time, because food-wise they were okay before the schedule shift.
God, the schedule. I'm so glad the intensity of that is over with.
