We just moved into our new house last weekend. All of our old living room furniture is now upstairs in the bonus room so I have nothing for the living room. We have very dark hardwood floors and the living room opens into the kitchen (cream cabinets, with brownish granite countertops and the hardwood floors continue into the kitchen as well). I love these chairs www.jossandmain.com/Best-Sellers-Furniture-Sussex-Arm-Chair~WHI3881~E5027.html and I would like to get two of them. But, I have no idea what type of couch, loveseat or sectional to get with them. The living room is quite large and it looks even bigger because it is open to the kitchen. So, I don't want to have too little furniture so that it looks sparse. You get bonus points if the couch is under $700 or the sectional is under $1000. Thanks!
Would the grey chairs work with all the dark browns in the room? Dark brown floors, dark brown cabinetry, dark brown granite.
I think it would because the floors are about the color of the base of the chairs. Plus, the cabinets are cream not brown and we have stainless steel appliances and a ton of windows that brighten the rooms up quite a bit.
The first one is super comfy. I'd buy it if it fit the rest of my house.
These are great and what I was thinking also. Here's a picture of a cute layout that might work for your house with 2 tufted chairs where the dining room chairs sit facing the sofa, a tufted/luxe/velvet/slipcovered couch, and a space between the dining and living area. This would still be "open" to the dining area.
You could also go a little modern if you wanted with those chairs, I'd just keep the couch in velvet/tufted, but with a cleaner lines and it might work. Something like this, but in a different color.
