I basically need a guidance counselor for adults, where could I find this?
I don't like my job, but don't want to switch into done thing else if I won't like that either. I have been in sales for a little over 5 years and the stress is no longer something I can handle. I wang to be able to sit down with someone, go over my skills, experience, and interests to figure out a career direction.
Originally I thought going from sales to fundraising might be a good idea but I think it might be the same stress with a different name. So now I am lost.

Where did you go to college is it someplace that has a career center? I know about a year after I graduated I wasn't feeling my job and I wanted to switch so I went back and talked to them about it. It seemed to help me a bit to figure out which direction to go in.
OMG I totally need this too! I feel like I'm having an early mid life crisis. I am planning to visit my college career center and hope they can help me. I almost want to take those "what are you good at" type quizzes to see if that will help me, but they are so generic. I literally want someone who knows me to just tell me what I'm good at and what will make me happy. I think I need a therapist!
Anyway, so far my ideas are: 1) college career center, 2) reading books like "what color is your parachute" and any other career type books from the library, 3) meeting up with friends to discuss what they do and see if they have any advice, 4) trying to meet up with my old boss and get feedback from him. 5) I'm actually considering going to a therapist as well.
If you want to get together for coffee sometime, I'd love to commiserate together. I remember that you and I seem to be going through similar job issues right now.
When H was laid off, his old company gave everyone a year membership here for career support and job hunting.
When we moved to Boston I was offered career support through them as part of XH's relocation package. I never really explored it, but the initially conversation I had with them was very positive and professional.
Starting at my college is a good idea. I went to northeastern so it's local so that is a good place to start. I will check out these websites tonight.
I also apologize for posting and running. EOQ is making me a crazy person and I haven't had time to check back before now. I appreciate all of your responses!

Thanks for the advice. I am glad I am not the only one. My only goal currently is to own a Pilates studio, which is not something we can afford right now so I need to start brainstorming. I would love to commiserate. Once this quarter is over and I am not pulling 70 hour weeks we should make time for that:)

Fundraising is crazy around June 30. I cannot wait for this fiscal year to be over. I was so stressed tonight that H offered me a Xanax which I gladly accepted when I got home.

It is my quarter end right now too. I have also been having Xanax and wine for "dinner" all week. IS THIS MONTH OVER YET?

Well I'm still short so I am drinking my night away. FML.
I have multiple people that keep saying "the check is in the mail" but I haven't seen the check yet!!!
We have off tomorrow (summer Fridays) but I will probably swing by the office to go through the mail and see what checks actually came.
