We are looking at options for A's birthday. One huge hurdle is timing. School starts 8-7. We need to have the party 8-17 or 8-31. We don't want to be those people who send an invitation the first week of school. Do you think it's too close to the beginning of school for 8-31?
Have you ever been to or hosted a Build-A-Bear party? Would you recommend it? We would buy a cookie cake from the mall and have everything there.
I'm looking for other parent input. I don't want to make it a PITA for people to come.
We don't have a way to contact her friends from school. We haven't made many friends since moving here. We were having the party to try to make friends. We will invite the whole class.

Is there anyway to get a feel for people being able to come on Labor Day weekend? Would you have time to talk to some of the parents before sending out invitations? I would hate for hardly anyone to show up, but then again, it may be a non-issue and a lot of people may be able to make it.

My DD has an August birthday and we do her party at the end of the school year in June. This way she has a chance to get to know the kids and have a party with friends rather than kids she just met. Then we do a small family party in August. Just a thought.
Kidlet's classmate does the same thing that whattheheck does for hers. End of school party the last week (but not last day so it doesn't get lost in the "last day" celebrations and vacations). But it's too late for that this year for you. What about a September party instead of August. The weekend of the 7th/8th. More response time, people are back and school is in session so the kids are more in the swing of things. Plus she may have had time to make a new "bff" for the year by then too.
