Paint for the kitchen has been a massive fail. It started bright yellow, and it's fine during the day... but at night, it has a slightly green hue to it that makes it feel like the inside of an overcooked hardboiled egg. It needed a do-over.
So I found new curtains that are perfect with the space and my Fiestaware... no small feat, that's for sure. I put a swatch of the fabric up next to the family room paint color, thinking I'd just carry that into the kitchen. Perfect.
So I painted a big spot on the wall in the kitchen with the family room color. It looks like cement. I hate it in there. I took one of my new curtains our of the package and hung it in the family room to see if that might change my mind about the color in the kitchen. No. I really, really hate it. Why! WHY?!
I don't think the yellow looks bad, but I will trust you on the color changes throughout the day. Do you like the idea of picking up one of the colors from your curtain? Light orange or green could be good options.

I think my problem is that there is just a lot of everything. A lot of outdated gray tile. A lot of wall space. A lot of dark gray counters. A lot of white.
The floors and counters will eventually change, and we're waiting to do a backsplash until then. But for now, I'm just trying to deal with what I have.
