Disney.
We went to disney for a week - park hopper, water parks. 2 adults, 1 kid, 1 free kid. Stayed at a moderate resort. Meal plans. All of that plus air fare was under 5K.

What do you think the optimal age is to take a child? J wasn't ready for Bush Gardens last December. His favorite part was the tram going into the park and the mud puddles to jump on on the way out.

Hes the perfect age for Disney between now and about 10, then its hit or miss.

I would start at 4 or 5. DD had just turned 5 when we went and it was so incredibly magical for her. She still talks about it almost daily. And she cries because she misses the princesses.

Disney Cruise. Everything is SO much easier. There are tons of things to do for all ages, it's so much easier to head back to the room for a break, no lines, and your day won't be ruined if it rains. AND, you can drop LO off at the kid's club to have fun and you can hit the adult's only sections of the boat. Andplusalso, Disney is the only cruise line that lets you bring on your own alcohol.
