It's just crazy because it is so. fucking. simple. Why are we still debating and sweating this shit out? How is there ANY question that this shit is wrong?
Such a crazy happy day with all this news, between Texas and SCOTUS.
So happy!!! I agree with Motzie, this shouldn't have to be debated still. I can't wait to see the celebrations at this year's Pride parade & festival in my city.
As I was getting ready I was thinking back to high school and how we debated about gay marriage in our Government class, remembering that I debated for it versus a gay classmate who was against it because he didn't want to get married. I'm wondering what his reaction is today. I hope he's as overjoyed as I am or even happier.
Most all excited and happy. Some of them are silent. One said "I guess next it'll be legal for me to marry my sheep".
I can't figure out if the guy who said "well, I guess we're all going to hell. But at least it'll be faaaaaabulous" is being sarcastic or what. I saw it and had to back away.
I hope we look back on this time in the future and consider this a huge embarrassment for ourselves. I do not understand why everyone doesn't get to share equal rights.
I was driving around listening to the radio this afternoon and one of the local stations asked people to call in and say whether they thought gay marriage was a good or bad thing. Unfortunately the majority who called in said it was bad. I wanted to call and poise the question of how they would feel if their rights and legal privileges were up for popular vote. Assholes.

Exactly captainmel! The area I live in is pretty awesome and it's pretty easy to forget sometimes how conservative the area around me actually is. The discrimination disgusts me.
tiramisu, I had the same reaction while listening to the radio yesterday. Someone called in all irate, saying "but if the majority voted and the majority wants gay marriage banned, how can some judges overturn the results of an election?" Because, yanno, there's no such thing as the constitution, and the majority would never, ever infringe on the civil rights of a minority.
I was actually really annoyed that the (polite) NPR analysts didn't tell her to shut the fuck up.
