There are some advocates of stuff like this, called "creative" discipline. Some ultra conservative Christian groups advocate it, like hot saucing. Lisa Welchel (Blair from The Facts of Life) has a book called "Creative Correction" where she advocates it.
Ugh that term makes me really sad and sick. What is creative about that? People are messed up
I think the origin of the idea is to veer away from spanking and time outs as the default punishments, an effort I admire, but they kind of miss the fact that the point of discipline is not just to be a deterrent.
That said, I did get Tabasco'd when I said a bad word. That punishment backfired because I developed a taste for it and would say things just to get a spoonful.

I love you for that last statement. I am imagining you saying fucking bitch and holding your mouth open.
A girl I know told me a story of a woman in her home state that does this. She actually carries the bottle around with her and if they are inside somewhere she will threaten them with it. If they continue to misbehave she takes them to the car and douses them w/vinegar. Personally, I think the fact that she takes them out to the car to do it, shows that she knows it would be a big UO.
I do not agree w/this behavior at all. And lord help the person if I ever found out someone did that to my kid!
So no one has come to pick up any of the kids. There is4 and her foster son (legally adopted). So when I saw her outagain,I asked if the kids were staying overnight. They are all foster kids. She is their temporary foster home. I filed an anonymous complaint, but like some posters pointed out, they may notdomuch about it. Vinegar is a food and its my word against hers.
But I wanted to update you sincesomeof you gave me ideas to try to do something about it.
