We have a diagnosis of croup.
Shes been a barking seal since Sunday night. The cough is getting a little less deep and more chunky today, so I take that as a good sign. She developed a fever (101-103) yesterday morning and its been going away with Motrin but once the 5-6hr mark hits, the fever comes back.
Took her to the doctor and her chest and ears are 100% clear.
ANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNND ontop of it, her bottom molars are buldging and will pop through at any given second so add that to the awesomeness.
I have such a sad blubbering boogery baby.
Please please please have this be over with before we go on vaca next Friday!!
Last time she had croup, she only had a fever for like 12 hours or so and then it went away. Anyone a croup expert? Does the fever usually last for a few days?
I'm certainly no expert, but we just got over some kind of horrible cough combined with teething mess. When the cough started sounding more "productive" (chunky is a good explanation), that was what signaled her really starting to be on the upswing to feeling better again. I hope she's over it soon and feels much better!
Did you get steroids? When E had croup this winter, within just a few hours of taking the steroid he was so much better. It got rid of the stridor in his cough. He still had a nasty cold for a week or so, but the scary barking cough was gone.
