What do you do and how often do you do it?
I really should get my butt back in gear. I want to like running, but I just don't. I may give it another try though. I've completed couch to 5k twice. I can do it, I just tend to get bored. I generally do pilates 3x a week at home in the evening, and walk about 3-5 times a week with the girls.
Everyone around here is crazy about Crossfit, but it doesn't appeal to me. I like exercise that gives the long and lean muscle look.
So, when do you exercise (morning/lunch/evening), how often, and what are you doing?
devonpow - tell us more about TRX, you definitely piqued my interest. How long have you been doing it and how often do you do it now?
I currently run 3 times a week in the morning. We also go on a several mile family walk everyday. That's about it, I can't ever get into videos or anything.

I'm running a 5k Mudrun in August. My first one. I should do couch to 5k. I used to do Zumba and kickboxing and alternate days. I just started working out hardcore again and it feels great. I'm doing the insanity 60 day program and I'm on week 3.
I work out when Lou goes to bed. My H is doing it with me. So Louie goes to bed and we work out and eat dinner. Wish I could work out earlier but it's the only thing that works right now.
Lately I've been super lazy and not done much of anything. When I'm into it I do elliptical, walking, Zumba and I've done shred and liked it. Zumba is my favorite.

I do Zumba regularly. I whine and pout and throw tantrums if I don't get to. I jog, do pushups, planks, crunches, etc. when I'm able to. . . . usually three or four times a week. I used to do that during his morning nap, but now that he's down to one, I do it after Andrew goes to bed.
TRX is amazing! I started it in 2009 and it got me into such great shape in terms of muscle definition.. I'm slowly getting back there (it is amazing core work, but my abs are just sad things right now...)
It is suspension training. All exercises are done using handled straps that are anchored to a point above you. So, you use your own body weight for the exercises and have to constantly be using your core to stabilize yourself.
My gym has a whole TRX area, so I do a class 2 days a week where for 30 minutes we do intervals on th treadmill (sprints and hills) and then for 30 minutes we do TRX. It kicks my butt!
It is easy to get a TRX at home and do it yourself, too. You just need to anchor it on something. You can even bring it outside and anchor it on a tree branch or something.
You can see how it works on TRXtraining.com (I don't know how to make things clicky - sorry!)
I'm just getting back into exercising. My friend and I are going to hike a trail as often as we can on weekends. I'll have B along in the backpack carrier most of the time so it wont be anything too strenuous for awhile. When the weather isn't too hot I take B and Anna for a 2 mile walk in our park. Its all paved and not very challenging. I'm going to try to unearth my treadmill, but its currently in the room right under B's and needs to be moved to the basement where it wont disturbed her. I want to join the gym, which has daycare, and a pool so I can start swimming laps but H doesn't want to spend the money. He thinks its a waste. I used to do pilates but don't have a good home video. My goal is by the end of the fall to be able to hike up Old Rag Mountain. 9 miles up and back and quite challenging. The last time I did it it was so much fun. I was in such better condition then though.

speaking of Zumba... Is your neighbor still loudly Zumba-ing??

(that was you, right??)
Haha, yeah that was me! I did hear her Zumba-ing another time or two. Plus, they slam their door so hard it shakes our house. But I just suck it up and deal with it... and dream of having a single home someday! Luckily they are really sweet people, so that helps too.
We have a gym in our basement so I work out when DH gets home from work, or now that I'm home, during her nap time. I do weight training, circuit training, and the elliptical. I try to do 4 days a week, but I also half ass my workouts sometimes.

Gym 4 nights a week after kids are in bed. I do 20-25 on treadmill, and then either a 20 minute core class (it's a satellite video projected onto a large screen in a private room) or 20-25 minutes of weights.
I used to do crossfit and I was in the best shape of my life then. Strong and fast and my abs looked good too.
The whole "long and lean exercise" thing is a bit untrue. A lot of it has to do with your body and its predisposed size. Another lot of it has to do with food. Can't build muscle without extra calories. There is no long and lean muscle type, there is only muscle tissue. If you have less of it and less body fat you will look "toned", if you have more of it and less body fat you will look "ripped", if you have more of it and also more body fat you will look "bulky".
I've always been the same weight whether I was strong from crossfit or fast from running. Basically it didnt make me bulky even though I could lift 200 pounds off the ground.
So don't worry about bulk happening, embrace the weights!
I don't particularly recommend crossfit though, it's expensive and many of the trainers suck, and most of the crossfitters are crazy pants paleotards. Like omgyouatebreadNO.
I run, as you know. I do 5K about 4-5 times a week. Sometimes with kids in tow, but I prefer alone. I also do weights at home (we have a home gym) and lots of planks.

Zero exercise. I do walk a few miles a day with baby strapped to me or in the stroller. And I carry baby + stroller up two flights of stairs. Does that count??

I just finished Turbo Fire, which was a 6 day a week program mixing cardio kickboxing, HIIT, plyo, and a little resistance. I started Les Mills Pump which is strictly weight training with a barbell. The calendar is a lot lighter than the Turbo one was so I've been working on my running (2-4 times a week, half and half stroller and solo) and I still do the occasional Turbo workout just for fun. I still have 8 weeks of Turbo Fire advanced to try and I found a calendar for a hybrid of Turbo and Pump so I may try that. I'm supposed to be getting Insanity at some point, too. For the most part I workout every day, though I'm not opposed to 1 rest day a week if I'm not feeling it.
