Help a girl out. I know some of you have already done beach vacations. We're heading to the beach in a week and we're staying for a week. We have a pool there as well, and I'm sure there will be some shopping days, but I envision at least part of every day being spent at the beach. What did you find to be the most helpful with LO at the beach? We have toys and such, but I'm such a planner, I'd like to make sure I'm as prepared for fun and disasters as best as possible!!
I haven't been to the beach in like 8 years....I am SO EXCITED!!! (even if it is Myrtle)
Spray sunscreen for the top of his head when he rips his hat off, ad for easier reapplying when sandy (I don't think coverage s as good with the sprays, so I only use it for those purposes)
We went to the beach early in the morning and later in the afternoon to avoid the intense sun (it was still hot when we went, though). We brought a towel, bucket, toy shovel, and toy rake. For the most part, DS just wanted to find shells and put sand in his mouth. Have fun!

Sounds like fun!
We spent a week at the beach and it was so much fun! We would start our day at the beach. That is when she was happiest to be out there and it wasn't as busy. We had a sun dome canopy thing that we bought for about $40 at Dicks and it was great to have! Also, pack lots of shovels, pails, and sand castle supplies. I was surprised by how much time she spent helping make castles and digging in the sand. I also made sure to bring her water shoes because the sand gets so hot! Also, I used the spray sunscreen on her because she didn't have time to wait for me to rub her down.
We try and go weekly as we live in so cal. Lately my child only wants the water an nothing to do with toys. Bring a set of owels to leave in the car is helpful and an extra change of clothes.

I love Myrtle beach! We go at least once a month. Jason hates the water but loves playing in the sand. I really like the spray sunscreen. Jason is so fair and gets very red so I apply it quite often and the spray is quick and easy.

Baby powder for sand removal
I second all of this - especially the baby powder.
If you are staying someplace where the beach is driving distance, I would also do the change of clothes in the car.

I third all this.
And want to add lots and lots of water and snacks. For some reason my kids (and I) get famished at the beach.
