I went to empty it yesterday and noted a sort of grit (EW) all over the dishes. Basically, the pump motor died and it is no longer actually pumping the dirty water out. R took it apart to see if he could fix it, but it's deader than a mouse at a cat convention.
So now we're needing to buy a new dishwasher. *sigh* But here's the conundrum. We don't have time tonight to go look, and tomorrow (when R wants to swap it out) I'll be out of town for the whole day, pretty much. So he's going to go buy it himself in the morning. Should I just trust him to pick it out or should I be researching online all day today? WWYD?
I really like my Bosch. I won out over a bunch of others that I researched. I didn't bring plates to the store but I did look at the features and reasoned which ones were the most useful.

And yes, I'm also team Bosch.
We just bought a Bosch and I love it. It's sooo quiet! It's also a lot faster than my old ones were.
I'm probably awful but is your H remotely good at this sort of thing? If he is at all, I'd tell him you don't want the cheapest, but you don't need super high end either. I'd just make sure it has the options you like, has a decent "clean" rating and it's fairly quiet and your dishes fit.
If I sent my H he'd come home with the best we could afford as a "treat" for me..lol..so I wouldn't stress.
Also, depending on where you live, make sure it's easily serviceable if need me. Granted I live in Little House on the Prairie but I tend to stick with the common household names so any repairman can fix it if need be.
FWIW, I have a Whirpool Gold and it rocks. Don't get a GE. crap all around.

Yes. He's a pretty decent buyer and he knows me well enough by now to know what I do and don't want.
And LOL, that's what we're replacing, actually. But it's almost 20 years old now, so I suppose it's overdue for replacement.
Right now our frontrunner is a Samsung, but we've still got two appliance places left (I went by HD and BB on my lunch break today to see what there was to see.)

My mom has a Samsung and it's a tossup as to whether she'd marry that or her Kenmore Progressive vac if my dad ever left her..haha. Seriously, it's pretty great value for the money. And quiet too.
I'd research, then send him off with some models or styles you like. We have a Samsung (all of our kitchen appliances are Samsung) and it's been really great. It is quiet and fast, and our dishes never have a film on them when they come out of the wash.
