**Backstory** Monday afternoon our new refrigerator was delivered. We were so excited to finally have room to put stuff, but due to rain, DH having to work late and other nuisances, I didn't get a chance to get groceries until Wednesday. Luckily I didn't have time to pick up much when I did finally go, because a few hours after I got home and put the groceries away, the temperature started rising in the fridge, and just kept on going up.
I spent all day yesterday on the phone with various people from Leibherr, people from the appliance store, and various hold lines and voicemail,,,,getting more and more frustrated (at the situation, not with the people,at least until my frustration wore me down and I cried-lol), and finally got a phone call from the local service guy. By that time I had calmed down and was just relieved to have someone coming to my house. He was great...all the right questions and he really listened to my description so that he had a better idea of the problem than the 'problem with temperature' that the company told him. He had me try a couple of things so that we wouldn't waste time in the morning trying them.
Now the good stuff...
The repairman showed up right when he said he would, and even called to warn me that he might be running a little late because of a freeway closure. Once he got here, he got to work and explained everything to us and really listened to us. He gave us a full rundown on the history of Leibherr and his opinion of the company, which was very high. He doesn't advertise at all, and from word of mouth he is so busy that he could turn down the warranty work if he wanted to. He was super accommodating to our contractors when they were moving something into the kitchen from the studio, while he was finishing up.
The Leibherr support wasn't open yet when he left here, but he said that he would come back later today, after he spoke to them. He called them as soon as they were open and told them what he had found. They wanted to send him a part to replace something, but he didn't feel that was an appropriate fix to a brand new appliance (he and I had discussed what we felt was an appropriate fix -like something that came loose in transit and just needed to be reattached...stuff like that). He called the store that we purchased it from and got them involved, and they called Leibherr insisted on a replacement. I got a phone call from the appliance store telling me that I was getting a new fridge, and the appliance repair guy called me a little later, making sure that I knew what was going on. I am seriously impressed by this guy. I love our appliance store too.
He also told me that this is the first time he had seen anything like this with a Leibherr, (especially a new one), and that he thinks they are a really good ("one of the best') product line.
I do actually love the fridge (from what I could tell the day it worked right. It is not good for a short person though....the freezer drawers on the French door style come up to counter height, and it is 80" tall. We got counter depth, so the freezer (which does work) is small too, but it is actually just right for the way that we cook and eat. The repair guy said that people tell him that their fruit and vegetables last much longer in their Leibherr than in other refrigerators they have had. I can't wait to find out.lol
if all contractors would figure this out they'd be set for life. i mean, from just this one positive experience you'll recommend him a thousand times over and he'll just keep bringing in the business.
i have a friend who's a contractor. he doesn't advertise anywhere - not even a logo on his truck or trailer, but he can't keep up with the demand because he's that good. we were joking that we want him to build us a house in a few years so we need to book him now.
The appliance store called...our new fridge will be delivered on Wednesday!! I can live with my dorm fridge for a little longer, now that I know that the end is in sight.
