Usually I'm on my own with DD on the weekends. There's no one to babysit for me, so I've relied on the jogging stroller. When DS arrives, I'd really like to take both of them running when the weather gets nice later this winter/spring.
DD currently weighs 38lbs and is 40" tall. She's already getting tall for the single BOB, and will be 5 yrs old when the three of us are ready to start running together in February. DS will need to use the car seat adapter until at least next Aug/Sept.
Do they even make a stroller that could accommodate them both? Am I crazy to think I can push that amount of weight?
FWIW, DD still loves riding in the stroller so I'm not concerned about that aspect. We live in a hilly neighborhood without sidewalks, so riding her bike next to be is not a viable option.
(I have the feeling y'all are going to tell me there's a lot of treadmill running in my future......)

I was facing a similar situation. My DD1 will be 3 1/2 by the time DD2 can ride in the stroller while I jog. I decided to stick with the single. But I'm going to have DH watch whichever child isn't running with me or we have a nice running trail where DD2 can ride her bike/scooter next to me. In your case I probably would get a double.
Maybe if you can find a used one? I wouldn't think you'd get enough use to spend much. I make my 5 year olds run with me or ride their bike. No free rides Have you thought about getting a baby sitter for the oldest while you run, or doing a trade off with another mom (you watch my LO, I'll watch yours sorta thing)?
You can get a car seat adapter/snack tray combo for the double Bob. I would totally get it. I hate the idea of pushing it, but it is better than running inside endlessly.
Hi runblondie! you probably don't remember me from the old H&F but I remember you Congrats on your little one on the way!
Before I got to your last paragraph I was all, DD can ride her bike! but yeah, hills will make that hard. When I run with the kids, the little guy goes in the stroller (he's 14 mos) and DS1 who is 4 rides his bike. But we are on the flats and sidewalks.
This is a tough situation. I feel ya, you want to keep up your running! Sometimes I go for my run before DH leaves for work. Often he works out on the home gym before work and then I take DS2 in the stroller and leave DS1 at home. He's old enough to entertain himself while DH works out at home. The other option is to go after DH gets home. Is that an option for you?

(Waving @starbound Hi, I remember you!) DH travels for work 4 days, so unfortunately there's no late/night early morning options then. Otherwise, I'd be out at 4am if that's what it took.
In some ways there was an advantage to waiting on our second. This is one instance here the age gap is problematic.
From what I see, BOB strollers are the only doubles that accommodate a car seat adapter. I was hoping I could get away with an InStep or Baby Trend since it won't be used long. May my Craiglists search begin.

You ladies are right about the babysitter. The jogging stroller may buy me another year or two, but I'll still need a solution after that. Come to think of it, I'll reach out to my running group and see if anyone can recommend a reliable teenager to babysit. That's the biggest problem here, after living in this area for almost 5 years we've yet find a local babysitter. Seriously, then only time we've gone out on a night or weekend is when one of our parents is visiting.

go for it. I'm pushing 60lbs in mine right now. Marion's head hits the canopy if it's folded back, but it doesn't bother her. If/when we have a third, Marion will have to ride her bike and the little will be right beside Eliza
I use mine (DD is similar in weight) and DS is 25lb. We don't do super long runs b/c I can't/don't want to push that much. But it's nice to get out of the house sometimes.
My two are 25+ plus each right now and I don't find the weight unbearable. Hills are tough, but otherwise it goes so easy I don't mind it. I would look into used though just knowing you wouldn't need it for very long. I found my practically brand new duallie on CL.
And uggh, I hear ya on the babysitter. I would love to find someone I could trust for just a few hours at a time. We have some family nearby, but they have their own young kids and busy lives!
Granted, we bought our BOB duallie when DD2 was born and DD1 was only 2, but they are now 3 and 5 and still fit fine in it. I actually think DD1 is now right at the maximum height of 44" but she still has room. Combined they are around 75 lbs. which makes for a tough workout especially when hills are involved, but it's doable, although admittedly I haven't run with the stroller since last fall, before getting pregnant.
I think a 5 y.o. and an infant would certainly be manageable. I don't know that I'd splurge on a new one, but I think it could be worth buying a used one if you can get two years out of it. If you're also planning on using it as an everyday stroller, even better. Even though my girls are older, we still use ours fairly often for trips to the zoo or Disney or anywhere that requires a lot of walking.
