My mom bought me this Carter's pillow for the baby. Are these things safe? My H thinks its fine as long as it doesn't interfere with the car seat straps. I hate having stuff touching my neck so it looks uncomfortable to me, and I can't seem to find anything online about them.

I wouldn't use one.
ETA: To elaborate, if the pillow slips forward a little bit it allows your child to sleep with their face directly in it. Infants don't really need support pillows. They are intentionally built to be bendy and squishy.

I wouldn't use that. I have one for the stroller, but it sits around her ears and she really would have had to contort to get her face in it, so that felt okay to me (plus stroller is rear facing and I can always keep an eye on her).
I would not use it. The cop who installs car seats in our town said no after-market accessories. They are not safety tested with your car seat, and aren't held to the same rigorous standards. He said no pillows, strap cushions, seat warmers, etc...
