I know we've done this before but I am curious to see how many people have cash on hand or only use debit/credit cards for things.
From my past in the service industry, I got used to having cash all the time and even still almost always have some for small emergencies and such. If I use it or run out, I will go to the bank soon after and get more fairly quickly.

I rarely have cash. I get $5 cash back at the grocery store and usually tip the baggers $3, so I might have $2 a week that usually gets used as a tip at Starbucks.
Nah, if that were the case I wouldn't have made it a clicky-poll so I could see everybody's answers, not just the people who piped up after they voted.
Sidenote - my favorite tippers when I waittressed/bartended were those who paid with credit (so I didn't have to make change) but tipped in cash. I didn't have to claim the cash tips so I paid less taxes that way, and now I often do the same thing as a customer to pay it forward.

I was actually wondering about this the other day.
I don't like to use my debit card for anything under $5, so I always keep cash.

I usually do that too because some restaurants have policies that part of credit card tips go toward offsetting the fees to process credit card transactions. If you tip in cash, you can be pretty sure the server keeps it all.

My H and I always try to do this as well.
I keep ~20 bucks in my wallet, and I ALWAYS carry at least a 20 dollar bill in my truck. (Thanks to sharing a car with my sister, I have learned to do this, in case of an emergency, ie. I run out of gas without having my wallet/credit card with me.)
