We had a babysitter over Saturday morning so DH and I could go through stuff in the basement and get rid of a TON of stuff (woot!). It was really nice to have us both concentrating on it, so we could ask what should stay or go, and get things organized. It looks like a whole different place down there.
Yesterday DH and DD spent 2 hours in the pool while I got my hair cut and colored. It looks pretty much the same, though my stylist says she knows what direction she's going for my next cut. We just hung out the rest of the day
Great weekend! We met up with my sis and her family at Coco Key in Fitchburg. We had an *awesome* time! I love water parks so much. We had fun with the kids, watched them a bit so my sis and BIL could actually go on the big water slides. They left when the kids got tired, so we stayed and did the big water slides, sat in the hot tub and relaxed around the lazy river. I'm so glad we went, it was an awesome day!
Sat night we were *exhausted* so stayed in, takeout and watched Pitch Perfect, which was really good!
Sun we worked on the house. H rented a dethatcher and we cleaned up the yard for like 4 hours. Nice ot be outside. Too bad the yard looks pretty much the same. Hopefully it will thicken up now that we cleaned out all the dead grass.
And today is my first day of summer vacation/voluntary unemployment. I did 1.5 hrs of yoga this morning and I feel awesome. I'm trying to just relax and not put too much pressure on my self, but of course my brain is thinking of ALL the things I should be doing and wandering to thinking about job searching. My plan is to take a month off, do some stuff around the house, and *then* start thinking about my next career move. Of course my brain refuses to cooperate.
Yikes, that was long! Hope everyone is having an easy holiday week!

So our friend who, is squatting across the hall from us, decided he and h were going to hold their own high school reunion. Friday they went to dinner. The rest of the "events" we're family oriented. We did the family day at the ica on Saturday. Lunch at flour. Dinner at full moon. Then swim lessons on Sunday followed by brunch. And everyone had dinner at our place.
Oh yay! I'm glad to hear that. When I dragged my husband to it, he thought it was good, but also that they were both kind of terrible people, who really deserved each other. He hasn't seen the other two in full, just bits and pieces, so he DOESN'T KNOW THEIR LYFE, heh. Where'd you end up for dinner?
We had a good weekend. Friday, it was empty here and I was totally bored, so I ditched at 3 pm and headed home to hang out with the pooch. He's SOOOO SAAAAAAAD these days, since my husband was home with him for 15 months. So he was really excited to be free from pooch jail early, heh.
Saturday, I cashed in my birthday gift certificate and got a massage in the morning, then went over and exchange the other birthday present from H (a necklace he'd already bought me, womp womp. We were going to go to the movies in the late afternoon, but H was tired after working a full week (YAY!), so we ended up just hanging out and grabbing some wine and Comellas for dinner.
Yesterday afternoon, we went up to Manchester for the Fisher Cats/Sea Dogs game, (my birthday gift to H back in March - it was belated birfday celebration weekend, apparently) and it was soooooooooooo hot. So hot. We were directly in the sun, and I was broiling. Two fat, pasty white folks do not do well in that environment, heh. So we stayed about 3 innings, then left. But we got beers and hot dogs and pretzels, sat 5 rows behind home plate, and H was delighted because he got to see one of the Red Sox's top pitching prospects, so it was worth it.

We had a good weekend even though we didn't do a whole lot.
Friday night we went to NH to my friends house for board games, drinking, and birthday celebrations.
Saturday I was hungover feeling all day and had to do 2 showings for a house. I did get to squeeze in some shopping between the two showings and bought 2 shirts and 3 pairs of flip flops for $11.
Sunday I basically sat around all day by the pool.
I have this week off so I am going to try and get some deep cleaning done today since its crappy out.
My weekend was sh!tty...literally. Both DS1 and DS2 got the stomach bug, and poor DS1 had it coming out both ends (sorry if this is TMI). I did a LOT of laundry. And hand washing. Here's hoping DH and I don't get it now!
My parents came in from NJ to visit. On Friday night we went to Federal Hill (the "north end" of PVD) for grilled pizza and to walk around. They had a live band in De Pasquale square playing sinatra and the like, which was kind of fun.
On Saturday we went to the new farmer's market - which kind of sucked. So then we walked to the old farmer's market and got a lovely bounty of strawberries (last week of the season, probably), snap peas, fresh scallops & grass fed beef. Then we went to a clam shack on the Bay for lunch. Then my brother was being a baby and complaining so we dropped him off at my house before going on to Blithewold, which is a beautiful old mansion with lovely gardens in Bristol, RI. We got there too late to go into the house but we got to tour the gardens which were really, really lovely. I could just imagine the family there, 100 years ago, playing croquette or walking through the gardens with parasols.
Sunday my parents left early (9 am!) so H and I read the paper and slothed out on the couch watching season 1 of Grimm pretty much all afternoon.
I went running on Saturday (I've got a 5k next Saturday to prepare for), mowed the lawn and did some tree/bush trimming. I was thoroughly exhausted after that and relaxed the rest of the day. Though H did suprise me by getting out of work early so we did some grocery shopping together.
Sunday we went to the beach. I usually frequent Nahant since it's so close and parking is so cheap but my H is convinced the water is polluted and won't go in so next week on our vacation we're going to go to Hampton Beach for the day. He's never been and I haven't been since high school. After the beach he took a nap and I got sucked into watching bad lifetime movies
It's pretty cool that your stylist thinks a couple of cuts ahead. I still haven't found anyone I really like since losing my last lady several years ago (she moved).
I lucked out with her. She was so cute: "I SO have a style for next time. You have to check it out."
FWIW, she wants me to have Portia DeRossi's short hairstyle. I'm almost there as it is

I used to loooove Hampton Beach as a kid. Perfect mix of great beach with boardwalk ghettoness. Such great people watching.
Random Hampton Beach story: When I was 11 I went up with my family for a few days and brought along a friend. We decided that we both wanted our ears triple-pierced so found a place on the Boardwalk and had it done. My mother was LIVID. I still can't believe someplace actually put holes into a child without parental permission (at 11 years old I probably look 8 or 9). Oh Hampton Beach!
Me too! It was the place my grandparents took us grandkids if we went to the beach by an ocean. We'd pack up the mini van, have a loaded cooler with cold friend chicken, snacks and juice boxes and off we'd go. I hear it's been built up nicely so I'm curious to see how it looks compared to my childhood memories
Oh hey, I was at Hampton Beach this weekend. The main attraction there really is the people watching. Second to none.
Saturday: yard work and playing with the new washer and dryer. You guys. They sing to you when the cycle is done. Or maybe not sing, but make a cute little noise. It's so much more pleasant than the ear splitting HROOOOONK the old set made.
Sunday: my parents decided the last week of June that they would like to rent a house at the beach this summer. I tagged along while they drove and walked around checking out the pitiful choices still available for the week they want in August. Mostly shit holes, the nice ones are super expensive. They think they found one they liked, I personally was pulling for the one with the rooftop deck. I'll only be staying for a few nights since I don't have quite enough vacation time saved up. After picking a place, they took me out for dinner at a cute Italian place. All in all, not a bad weekend.
noodleoo - I remember that feeling when I left my old job. It gets better, promise! Take time to recharge.
Awkward - I just can't even with Hampton anymore. I think I'm too old. I love short sands up in Maine instead. I'm glad you had some good people watching.
LoveTrains - every time you post about PVD I want to visit. I don't believe I ever actually have. I was there once for a cheerleading competition, but didn't have any time to be a tourist. It sounds like an awesome place to live!
This weekend was good. H surprised me by coming home early Friday afternoon. We went furniture shopping for the umpteenth time and finally found a sofa we both loved instantly at Sam's club! All that time wasted at furniture stores for nothing! We then got Chinese and caught up on DVR shows.
Saturday we cleaned out the garage and decided we didn't have enough stuff to hold a garage sale so we will try Craigslist and then we'll be making a Goodwill trip(unless anyone might want a cheapy glider/recliner, sofa table, small nighstands with floral print or an automatic litter box? Free!)
Yesterday we ordered the sofa and matching recliner and shopped online for a new TV console/stand/something to replace this $40 Target special H fell in love with last year.
Saturday is my birthday so I am making a huge list to take to Ikea (my choice bday activity!) and am hoping to resolve some of this leftover furniture list.

hulley this might sound dumb but is an automatic litter box like for cats and it cleans itself out? If so does it smell any better than just the boxes? My sisters' apartment smells like cat pee/poop all the time and its on the verge of making me gag so I may be interested in your used one or buying her a new one.
bostonmichelle - It is. It's called Littermaid (I'm pretty sure that's the name, anyway). We bought it and our one skittish cat wasn't having it during the set-up. It never actually got used, because seeing her freak out made H worry that she or the other two wouldn't use it and he didn't want to risk it.

You should totally come visit some time! I would be happy to make recommendations for you.
