When are you marathoning/week of training? Chicago Marathon 10/13 and Savannah RnR 11/9. I'm in week 2 of training.
What went on last week, training-wise? I was waiting to officially start training with my new coach (he's just consulting & writing my plan), so I set a goal for 30 mpw, and a 10 mile long run.
Which runs have felt great/not so great so far? I had a decent MP run on Tuesday. I have been struggling so much in this humidity. Easy paces are now difficult paces, and it's been a big mind game. It cooled off a few degrees Tuesday after it rained, and I managed 6 miles at an 8:18. 3 miles were at or below MP w/the final mile at 7:59. It felt way more difficult than it should have though. Gah, I hate summer! Every other run has felt not so great. lol
How has the rest of your non-running life carried on- eating, work/life balance, etc? So far so good. It helps that DH is training as well.
Who in your life has been your biggest cheerleader for this marathon? My running partner. She's so supportive. I think she's more excited about my BQ goal than I am. She pushing me & holding me accountable. Love her.
Why do I post in the form of the 6 journalism questions? I dunno. Freestyle something random here to entertain my EBV-sidelined butt I just got my new training plan, and it's....intense. Like OMG, how am I going to hit these paces intense. Idk. I asked to be challenged. I know I need to shake things up a bit if I want another big PR and a BQ, but I'm intimidated. I know this coach knows his stuff. He's been coaching for a very long time. He's an extremely experienced runner. He's won a ton of races & titles. His marathon PR is 2:27:50...but I'm scared. lol
When are you marathoning/week of training? Still trying to get a good base going, Freedom's Run Oct 12
What went on last week, training-wise? Not bad, but my longest run was only 8.5. I can't seem to fit long runs in. Grr.
Which runs have felt great/not so great so far? My treadmill runs have felt amazing. There is something to be said for no incline and air conditioning.
How has the rest of your non-running life carried on- eating, work/life balance, etc? Not much balance. DH works all the time My kids are currently in separate rooms on time outs ranting about how I am the meanest mom ever. The youngest has insane separation anxiety. This is all related to H&F, because I need to run for my sanity more than ever, and it is hard to find the time.
Who in your life has been your biggest cheerleader for this marathon? DH is very optimistic that we can both train for this marathon and run together. I don't think he will let me quit
Good morning ladies! Can't wait to live vicariously through your training adventures!
When are you marathoning/week of training? 4/18, I think
What went on last week, training-wise? nothing really impressive
Which runs have felt great/not so great so far? I had a decent 8.5 mile run on Saturday
How has the rest of your non-running life carried on- eating, work/life balance, etc? I haven't noticed any change so far. I need to focus on eating better though
Who in your life has been your biggest cheerleader for this marathon? H, hands down.
Why do I post in the form of the 6 journalism questions? I dunno. Freestyle something random here to entertain my EBV-sidelined butt I went to hot yoga yesterday. I am sore today!
When are you marathoning/week of training? Chicago Marathon 10/13, week 4 of training
What went on last week, training-wise? Last week was a cutback week for me. The plan was 3/6/3/6/8, but I ended up skipping out on one of the midweek runs. I was sooooooo tired all week last week. My work schedule changed, and I had a hard time adjusting my sleep schedule to go along with it. I am trying not to beat myself up over one run because I know it is ridiculous, but I can't help but feel like a wuss!
Which runs have felt great/not so great so far? I felt pretty great on my long run this weekend, considering how hot and humid it was. My mid week runs felt a little blech, a combo of being hot/humid and me being behind on sleep.
How has the rest of your non-running life carried on- eating, work/life balance, etc? So far so good. I am starting to get a little rungry, but I am trying to keep it under control. I started a new job recently (which I love so far!) so I am just trying to get into a new routine
Who in your life has been your biggest cheerleader for this marathon? My grandpa! He was a great runner back in his day, and misses it soooo much. He loves living vicariously through me and is always asking about my runs, races, training plans, etc. It is pretty adorable how excited he gets to talk running with me!
Why do I post in the form of the 6 journalism questions? I dunno. Freestyle something random here to entertain my EBV-sidelined butt Hmmm, Saturday I asked H to do the grocery shopping for the week. I got an email a few hours later from peapod (online grocery) that our order would be delivered the next day. LOL. I made fun of him for not just going to the store, but I think we may actually switch to getting all of our non-fresh stuff through them. We have a great local produce place that we go to, but they don't sell anything but fruit/veg. We go to costco for cereal/basics, but it is just the two of us in a small apartment so we can't really get bulk everything. I hate having to go to a zillion different stores every week, so this may alleviate the problem.
When are you marathoning/week of training? - Philly, November 17th, training officially starts in 2 weeks
What went on last week, training-wise? - just trying to keep running consistently until I start training
Which runs have felt great/not so great so far? - well yesterday sucked, just b/c it was so freaking hot out
How has the rest of your non-running life carried on- eating, work/life balance, etc? - hasn't been effected yet
Who in your life has been your biggest cheerleader for this marathon? - it'll probably be my dad
Why do I post in the form of the 6 journalism questions? I dunno. Freestyle something random here to entertain my EBV-sidelined butt - I leave for Florida at the end of this month, and I'm really trying to eat well and exercise a lot before I go. I don't necessarily need to lose any weight (although a couple of pounds wouldn't hurt), but I just want to feel my best for vacay. Well, my coworker just brought me a piece of chocolate chip cheesecake and I just devoured it. Oh my it was so good! I'm off to such a great start, LOL!

I can't copy/paste for some reason, so I'll paraphrase.
Race: Marine Corps Marathon, 10/27. If I end up not being able to do that race due to scheduling issues, my back-up is Richmond.
Where I am in training: Today was officially Week 1, Day 1 (assuming I actually go through with this; I haven't fully committed yet)
Last week: Just a basic training week with a long run of 10 miles, to prepare me for this week.
Good and bad runs: I thought I was getting better about running in the heat and humidity, but my 10-mile run on Saturday felt absolutely brutal for some reason. I met up with my running group for the last few miles, and I couldn't keep up with people who I can usually run with. I'm not sure how marathon training will work out with those group runs over the summer.
Rest of my life: Busy as always. DH also starts marathon training this week!
Cheerleaders: No one really, but I just started. I hope DH and I will cheer each other on.
Random: I brought cookies into work for an event, and now there are half a dozen leftover cookies sitting in my office. And they're GOOD cookies. I need willpower.
When are you marathoning/week of training? Still trying to get a good base going, Freedom's Run Oct 12

I didn't know you were doing Freedoms Run, that's a beautiful one! I did the half two years ago, it's very hilly
When are you marathoning/week of training? - Marine Corps Marathon, October
What went on last week, training-wise? - crosstraining, 3, 5, 3, rest and 8 miles in the 100% NC humidity. makes me dread the longer runs!
Which runs have felt great/not so great so far? - 8 miler was pretty miserable with the humidity and no shade. The other 3 were great!
How has the rest of your non-running life carried on- eating, work/life balance, etc? - crazy. we are reno-ing a house and spending all spare time there. It's definitely a balancing act
Who in your life has been your biggest cheerleader for this marathon? - my BFF
Why do I post in the form of the 6 journalism questions? I dunno. Freestyle something random here to entertain my EBV-sidelined butt - i'm ready for the 4th holiday! I'm taking Friday off and my BFF is coming in town, we'll run our 9 miles together, go boating/swimming and have cocktails!
Random: I brought cookies into work for an event, and now there are half a dozen leftover cookies sitting in my office. And they're GOOD cookies. I need willpower. I need milk.
Good morning ladies! Can't wait to live vicariously through your training adventures!
When are you marathoning/week of training? Chicago 10.13.13, I'm starting week 4.
What went on last week, training-wise? M: rest, T: 45 min run, W: 3.5 mi + weights. the run was cut short due to general suckage, R: 6 mi easy, F: rest, S: 11 mi, S: 5 mi @ MP.
Which runs have felt great/not so great so far? my long run last week was pretty awesome. I totally gave up on the TM on wednesday. It just totally blew.
How has the rest of your non-running life carried on- eating, work/life balance, etc? pretty good overall. a little too much booze. no runger. job has been pretty low key.
Who in your life has been your biggest cheerleader for this marathon? umm. . . you guys? since I've done this before my family is pretty much just like 'have fun with that'. my H is supportive but not really a cheerleader type. . . .
Why do I post in the form of the 6 journalism questions? I dunno. Freestyle something random here to entertain my EBV-sidelined butt about 45 minutes after I get in IT had to do an emergency shut down of the servers @ work. all my work is on the server. but the boss let us go home early. sweet.
When are you marathoning/week of training? Marine Corps Marathon,Hmm.. I actually have no idea.
What went on last week, training-wise? M: Cross training T: 3 mi run W: Rest Th: 4.5 mi run F: Cross training Sa: 6 mi run
Which runs have felt great/not so great so far? Well actually Tuesday sucked WAY worse than Sat. I miss the days before my fracture when 8 mi was my easy run. However, Sat's 6 mi was awesome b/c of the lack of humidity in North Carolina, oh and did I mention it was only 83 degrees?!
How has the rest of your non-running life carried on- eating, work/life balance, etc? Doing a little better with my eating. Even lost 1 lb on vacay- and I had chocolate and beer!
Who in your life has been your biggest cheerleader for this marathon? Hmm, good question.
Why do I post in the form of the 6 journalism questions? I dunno. Freestyle something random here to entertain my EBV-sidelined butt I was a good little runner and listened to my body forfited running w/Bart Yasso to save my training. Hopefully I'll get to see him at Marine Corps!

When are you marathoning/week of training?
Denver 10/20; Starting week 3 of Higdon's Novice 1
What went on last week, training-wise?
I only ran 13 miles last week because I had to go in to the office an extra day
Which runs have felt great/not so great so far?
I had a lousy run on Friday, but that was poor fueling. I was fairly happy with my long run, especially being able to run up that nasty hill during the last mile
How has the rest of your non-running life carried on- eating, work/life balance, etc?
So far, so good.
Who in your life has been your biggest cheerleader for this marathon?
I have a group of girlfriends from college who have all "stumbled" into running. We cheer each other on by text, email, and FB.
Why do I post in the form of the 6 journalism questions? I dunno. Freestyle something random here to entertain my EBV-sidelined butt
I've been a lurker, but I hope to join in more. You ladies are very inspirational!
When are you marathoning/week of training? Chicago 10/13, now in week 4
What went on last week, training-wise? The plan was 3/5/3/5/6 for a step back week. I had a fantastic tempo run on Tuesday and a great 5 miler Wednesday but this weekend destroyed me. It was so hot on Saturday and then I just didn't fuel properly yesterday. So I did the 6 tonight and I'll squeeze in my lift tomorrow after 3 and be back on track.
Which runs have felt great/not so great so far? A couple of really good runs this week, but my long runs have just been so hard. I don't know why; I just can never get into a good groove. I'm hoping I'll snap out of it soon; I've been playing with my diet to see if maybe that's the problem.
How has the rest of your non-running life carried on- eating, work/life balance, etc? Oh man. I had my wonderful weekend off and now for the next month I'm in the ICU, which I've been actually really looking forward to, but I think it's going to be tough to squeeze in all my runs. The good news is, no weekends and no call!
Who in your life has been your biggest cheerleader for this marathon? Probably you guys! My husband is amazingly supportive in terms of picking up the slack around the house and stuff, but he's not really the "you can do it!" type. I think at this point he's totally used to me getting in over my head and figures that, per usual, I'll get it done one way or another.
Why do I post in the form of the 6 journalism questions? I dunno. Freestyle something random here to entertain my EBV-sidelined butt I got nothing at the moment, but I hope you feel better soon!!

When are you marathoning/week of training? Nike Women's in SF, October 20 (I GOT IN!!!!!!)
What went on last week, training-wise? I'm in week 3 of training. I had a 10 miler on Saturday and I was on vacation, hills and altitude and it went great!!
Which runs have felt great/not so great so far? My long runs feel better than the short ones, weird!
How has the rest of your non-running life carried on- eating, work/life balance, etc? I'm a single mom, I have been doing ok with the balance so far. I do most weekday runs on my treadmill after the kids go to sleep.
Who in your life has been your biggest cheerleader for this marathon? My family and neighbors. They have all offered to watch my kids while I train.
Not much! Thanks head cold + humidity. Even my 4 mile "easy" run ended up with me walking twice. Check that pride at the door, fool!
Which runs have felt great/not so great so far?
My long run last Saturday felt AWFUL. If there were deer on the trails they would have ran to me and used me as a human salt lick. Plus I need to figure out my happy place with fuel STAT.
How has the rest of your non-running life carried on- eating, work/life balance, etc?
I'm about to take a massive promotion which will throw my life into a tailspin. While it is awesome career-wise (which HELLO, that's the long term goal) I'm slightly terrified what it will do to training. Is that a bragplaint?
Who in your life has been your biggest cheerleader for this marathon?
My Dad. As someone who has done over a dozen marathons he has been a rock when it comes to my confidence and advice. Another is my girlfriend who is also running this race as her first marathon. It is SO NICE to have someone to run with who is going through the same emotions/frustrations/excitement. Why do I post in the form of the 6 journalism questions? I dunno. I stayed home today with one sick little dude and I'm pretty sure in the back of my head we made root beer floats for me, not him. He had a tiny one, I had two BIG ONES. The last had vanilla vodka after he was sleeping. Uf-dah. Sickies are hard.
This has been happening to me too! My long runs have been the same pace as my shorter mid-week runs. So weird.
Same here. Some of my long runs are faster pace than my short runs. I have no idea what is going on
my weekend runs and mid-week runs are at different times of day. during the week I run at night. on the weekends I run in the morning. I generally do better on weekend AMs because my hydration and nutrition are more known quantities in the AM. after work. . . it depends on the day.
you'd think this would make be convert to a full time morning runner, but eff that noise. I can't figure out how to do quality tempo/interval workouts in the AM.

All of this. All of the things you have said, are my problem. I think the temps after work are just really getting to me. We had a slight rain & some cloud coverage last night, and there was a 30 sec difference in my pace. Summer marathon training in one big mindfuck.

This is an excellent point. I always have great intentions of doing some midweek runs in the morning, but it never happens.
