I've been on a kick where I've been rereading books I enjoyed when I was a child. It is kind of interesting to see what held up for me and what didn't.
My total goal for this year is 100. I managed to hit that last year, but I'm only at 36 so far for this year and I doubt I'll be able to catch up.

It was a light reading month for me. I would say I've hit a summer slump, but it's winter here, so I really can't explain it.
Recipe for Treason by Andrea Penrose Away with the Fairies by Kerry Greenwood In the Teeth of Adversity by Marian Babson Monsieur Pamplemousse Stands Firm by Michael Bond
I'd not recommend Recipe for Treason to anyone, but the rest were definitely worth the time.
Behind the Beautiful Forevers - Katherine Boo - 3.5 Dead Ever After - Charlaine Harria - 3 Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter - Seth Grahame-Smith - 4 The Winter Sea - Susanna Kearsley - 5 Beautiful Creatures - Kami Garcia - 4.5 The New Rules of Lifting for Women - 4 so far, but I still have to start the program

I didn't get a lot of reading time in June, so aside from finishing the somewhat controversial The Dark Light by Mette Newth, I spent the rest of the month reading American Gods. (I gave 4/5 to both.)

My goal for the year is 50--I'm at 21/50,so I'm 3 books behind. I'm hoping to get a lot of reading time in on vacation by the pool over the 4th

No goals for me this year. I read a bunch of fluffy stuff on vacation in June... And then made myself read Grapes of Wrath because it was good for me or something.

I do this to myself, too. For some books I just feel like I'd get more allusions if I read them, but I don't think that turns out to be the case very often. Anna Karenina was one, for sure!
I remember finding Grapes of Wrath difficult to get through, but I read it in high school. Not sure if it would be any different now.
