I've been on the hunt for a buffet/sideboard for my dining area for what seems like forever. I've been stalking Craigslist and just haven't been having any luck. My ideal is one from PB, but I'm not willing to spend that much so it's really not an option.
Ok, I can't get the dining room photo to show up at all. But basically it's a black oval pedestal table with chairs similar to these, but not as curved of a back
I can't figure out why nothing seems to want to work for me today. I've tried repasting the links so maybe that'll help.
I'm also not wanting to spend $$$ on this since my table and chairs aren't really that nice and are definitely beginning to look distressed and I have a huge scratch in the table from moving
Ok, tried reposting the links. But still cant get the photos if my sad dining room from my phone to show up, but i give up.
I'm really just in the market for a sideboard/buffet right now as my china and stuff is still sitting around in boxes. Not looking to spend much but also want something that isn't going to fall apart if you breath on it and looks decent.
So, I guess the question I have is, what's your priority? Price & style seem to be topping the list by what you're linking, but I would just caution you. I have BB&B family room furniture and it's fine because I bought it to be relatively disposable because my children destroy everything they touch. I would not put it any "formal" looking room (like a dining room) and I would not expect it to be "forever furniture." I tend to view furniture like shoes. It's worth it to spend out of your comfort zone because furniture should last a long time, hold up well, and be able to withstand the occasional bump and scratch. If you're a super trendy person, you might want to spend less because you'll be replacing it often, but you look like you're pretty traditional too.
In light of that, I would seriously jump online, read some reviews for brands and manufacturers of dining room furniture, sock some money away over the next several months and plop some coin down on a really nice buffet that you will have for 15 years or more. If you don't want to do that, then of the three buffets you've posted, I would just go with the one that aesthetically you like best. I would not buy PB because it is the worst combination of price and quality as far as furniture goes. The price is high, the quality is low and you can get the look from 1000 other places for less. Including Target.
SBP, I totally agree with you about long term furniture and PB furniture but i like the look of many of their things. Unfortunately right now I'm just trying to settle and get my life organized. I'd love to consider long term furniture but think that's a few years off right now.
If you do want to shoot for higher quality, in our area, there are people on the CL services boards that create knockoffs of PB and C&B furniture for a fraction of the price. One guy in particular appears to do quality, solid work. We've considered ordering some things from him, but haven't yet. Perhaps you could look for something like that? You might get a better piece for less $$, and you might save even more if you were willing to do some finish work yourself; I dont' know. Our friends found another guy a bit farther out of the city who built their outdoor wood furniture very inexpensively, considering the high quality of the materials and workmanship.
