I'm training for my first sprint tri (not until August) and an Olympic in September. Training is going GREAT but I am completely stuck as to what to wear for the Triathlon. There isn't a swimsuit in the world that would hold up my chest through a swim/bike/run. Tri suits don't either (and I'd like to avoid buying a full Tri suit until after this summer, to see if I continue with the sport).
Has anyone with a DD+ chest participated in a Tri and if so, what did you wear? I keep going to running stores and girls with A or B sized chests keep giving me the most ridiculous suggestions. Sorry...but until you run a 10K with a DD+ chest you will never understand. I have to wear a tank with a built in bra PLUS a good sports bra to keep my breasts from hurting by mile 3.
I tried swimming on Sunday with my tri shorts, a good sports bra and a good wicking tank with a built in bra, and felt like I was swimming with a blanket wrapped around me. If this is my only option, I'll train this way, but I'm hoping there is a miraculous solution I haven't found yet.
What about a sports bra under your swim suit? In my first tri season, when my other new-to-tri friends and I weren't ready to invest $$$ in tri gear yet, that's what the more well endowed ladies did. Just avoid cotton and any padding that will hold water.
I just wore a tight swim suit (sized smaller than my bra band size) and tri shorts at first. It worked for me, but I get that that doesn't work for everybody.
Wear a bathing suit and tri shorts and a sports bra under your suit. You can swim in tri shorts, so wear them the whole time.you don't want to wear cycling shorts in the water.

This. You also don't need cycling shorts for a sprint or Olympic.
Susie, did you then just throw on cycling shorts after the swim? Then just change into running shoes for the run?
I swam in my tri shorts. They have a thinner chamois (pad) that doesn't hold water like a diaper the way regular cycling shorts would. It would be really difficult to get cycling shorts on in transition when you are wet.
So basically, my clothes went:
Start the swim: - cap - goggles - swim suit (+sports bra for you) - tri shorts
In T1: - cap & goggles off - helmet & sunglasses on - socks (optional) and cycling shoes on - race # belt with bib on
In T2: - helmet off, visor or cap on (optional) - swap cycling shoes for running shoes - spin bib around to front

I'm above a DD+ and do tris. I wear an Enell sports bra. It gives me no bounce and there's no padding to weigh you down. I wear a tri top and tri shorts, even for a super sprint tri. The tri shorts have just a thin layer of almost fleece for cycling, so they dry quickly and are perfect for swimming. A tri top is generally much more fitted than a regular running tank, so it functions almost just like a swim suit in the water. You definitely should invest in a tri suit and find the right sports bra that works for you. Boobs are a pain during a tri, but it's totally doable with them
