Didn't someone on here post about how they modded/hacked their Soda Stream to take big tanks of cO2? Anyone?
My initial 60 liter cO2 tank only lasted 1.5 weeks. At $15 for a refill this is going to add pu....although still probably cheaper than my seltzer habit.
Most people on the internets say that the 60 liter tank, which is supposed to give 60 fills, really only lasts about 30-35 fills.
Do you all have the 110 liter tanks?
I don't think I have a big tank. It's small & came with my base model machine. I need to get it refilled.
I averaged 1-2 fills per day, probably 4-5 days/week. But I did that for months.
I looked online and I'm pretty sure I have the small tank. The random sites I'm looking at say the same thing you're saying, but I swear mine last for months....
This is so intriguing. Do you guys do the three pumps until it buzzes to carbonate your liter? Because I was definitely annoyed that I was out of CO2 already and when I started googling, it seems like many, many people have the same issue as me. I wonder if it depends on the model you have? I have the Fountain Jet.
To make it MM, I bought it from Staples for $60 on sale with a $20 staples gift card rebate and a $25 rebate from soda stream.

I definitely do the 3 pumps (to the buzz 3 pumps which I guess is usually more than 3). Sometimes a bonus pump. I mean I've had mine 3 years and gotten like 4 replacements (that is going in and of heavy use). How strange.

I keep pumping until it buzzes, and then do 3-4 buzz pumps to make it super fizzy.

So do hold down the button until it buzzes or keep repeatedly pushing it down over and over again until it buzzes? I am wonder if I have a user error issue here.

Kore description is better. I keep pushing over and over again (Brief pumps) until it buzzes. Then I do pumps till I get 3 buzzes.

I misread the instructions printed on my SS for months! I thought it said to press three times until it buzzes. But it really means press a few times (or hold down) til it buzzes, then press a couple more times to get 3 buzzes. I drank 1-buzz water for ages, thinking that was it. It was still adequately carbonated, but the 3 buzz method makes the carbonation last longer.
Ok I have been holding it down until the first buzz, and then doing two more buzzes/pumps after that.
I was thinking I would switch to only two buzzes since I mostly drink a liter of seltzer in just one sitting.
I've had a SS for many years & I always do short pumps until it buzzes, the 3 buzzes, never holding it down. That might be your issue. My tanks last a long time.
I have the 120L tank. No mod necessary for it to fit. That's actually what it came with. The first tank lasted 6 mos, although I'm not making 4L per day. If you're holding the button down you're probably losing a lot of CO2. It should be short bursts until you get the noise and then 2 more pumps after that.
We have the big tank, 120L or 130L, can't remember which it is. It lasts us about 4 months. I do 3-4 buzzes per bottle and we fill 2-3 bottles per day. We use the liter sized bottles.
I haven't tried to hack ours, I'm too chicken shit to mess with it, but there are a buch of how to videos on you tube.
