What is everyone up to for the holiday and/or long weekend (sorry SCM!)
We are going to go out with some friends tonight in PVD, then just hang out at home on Thursday. On Friday we are going to NYC to see my BFF. We are definitely staying two nights, if the stars align we might be able to do a mystery shop evaluation at a NYC hotel on Sunday & monday nights. I have off until a week from today!!! woohoo.
Well, if you saw my post on MM, we had sort of "saved" this weekend to spend with SIL and her family that are in town. Of course, they never shared their plans with us and turns out they are leaving Friday morning, so I guess we have a pretty free weekend!
Thurs: up in the air, something with SIL. Looks like we're meeting at a restaurant for an early dinner, then hang with them at ILs house and then we're going to try to go to the Boston fireworks.
Fri: I'm thinking beach day! H took the day off to spend with SIL (doh!).

I have this week off. I was supposed to go up to VT this weekend with my sister but her boyfriend got the weekend off so he is going instead, which is fine by me except I didn't make any plans for the 4th thinking the weekend would be shot. Oh well, looks like lots of pool time for me. My dad and sister are coming over tonight for dinner then we are going to the local fireworks. I do need to weed my gardens since all this rain took place and I just noticed today how jungle-y they look.

After my little "practice session" fixing the damage on my floors, I rented a full-size floor sander to sand down the damaged parts of the floor - a 6x6 area in the living room and a 3x4 section in the dining room. Today we got up as much dust as we could. Tonight I'll stain the bare wood, then over the next 3 days I"ll be polyurethaning/sanding/polyurethaning/sanding/polyurethaning/sanding/polyurethaning/sanding so that by the weekend hopefully the floor will be not horrible anymore. Oh, and on June 18 I cleaned my deck and I've been waiting since then for enough dry days in a row to be able to stain & seal that. It's going to be humid tomorrow but I'm so sick of not having the deck that eff it, unless it actually rains tonight I'm going to seal it tomorrow. I want my deck back.
Oh, and probably laundry.
So to answer your question, manual labor. That's what we'll be doing this holiday.
Have a nice, safe one everyone. Please leave the fireworks to the professionals!

Oh man, that sounds like so much work! I want to see before and after pics.
we stained our deck a few years ago. It was new, so needed to do the entire thing. It was SO much harder than I thought it would be! I will never do that again. It looks like crap (already, only 3 years later). But next time I'm hiring a college student or something to do it!
I really want to go to the beach tomorrow or Friday but so far no one has been available to go so we'll see. Then friday night after H gets out of work we are headed to western NY to see some of my family for the weekend. It's been a really long time since I was out there and H has never been so it should be fun. It's sorta a tradition in my extended family that any kid who graduates, has thier party the 4th of july weekend and the whole family comes into town. This year there are two, one from high school and one from college.
Then we are on vacation all of next week with no real set plans yet.

We're out at 3 today, yay!
Tonight, it's fajitas and beers. Tomorrow, I think we're going to go to the movies in the afternoon, and then just hang-out. Friday, H is working all day, and I'm coming in for a half-day in the morning. I kept waiting for them to just close already, but they never did. Sigh. The second round of the summer program starts on Monday, so I'm "on-call" Sunday for early arrivals (though I don't expect to hear from anyone). We have zero plans, though I have like 3 books at the library for pick-up, so hopefully a quiet weekend of reading/relaxing is on tap.

Birthdays galore this week. Today is h's. Tomorrow we're going to a BBQ at a friend whose bday is Friday. Then fireworks tomorrow night. Friday most people I know are working, including H. Saturday and Sunday we have kid bday parties.
Tomorrow we leave for Lake George Friday we will either do a kid's day at DH's event, or we'll wander Lake George Saturday DH has an event, no idea what DD and I will be doing. Maybe hanging out at the motel pool and playground, maybe exploring Sunday we come home and I'll help DH coordinate suits for his corporate audit next week
I am in sunny Southern California! I think I am going to an outdoor concert to listen to music and watch fireworks with my family tomorrow. The remainder of the weekend will be spent visiting family and friends.
I was just out of town but we are going to Maine on Sunday to go to the beach and pop in on our Rental property- semi to do maintenance, semi to spy on our cleaner. Haha.
Late to the game but I went to see fireworks and a 4th party with my family in NJ and then moved yesterday to Boston! I'm all settled in and today is my birthday and in going out with friends and unpacking!
