I slept in and for my late breakfast had an apple croissant and coffee. Just finished lunch at Panera with DH and we're about to go shopping for something to BBQ later this evening. Tonight after barbecuing we'll go watch fireworks.

A day late, but...
Took kid to the park. Watched some movies. Played outside before the rain made us go in. Had a little cook out with H and kid. Then H went to work.
I like to look at pretty birds, but aviaries freak me out. I can only be in them for a few moments before I have to leave and I NEVER feed the birds. You are a brave soul.
I went to ihop and a brewery with pup guy and friends, played with lots of dogs, grilled brats, and went to fireworks. And was too tired to drive home so I crashed at his place and am eating my first egg mcmuffin in years trying to wake up for work in an hour.
You're so cute captainmel! Yesterday I was completely lazy and it was nice. DH started a new batch of wine (hooray!), we hung out on the couch for a while and I cleaned up my painting room.
We went to dinner and out for ice cream last night.
You are cute captainmel. That bird is really pretty too. This 4th was a bust. It rained all day and is going to rain for the foreseeable future. The fireworks were canceled. The best part was a houseparty my BIL and FI threw. We ate, drank and watched Independence Day. It was fun.
I made ribs for the first time ever, and not on the BBQ. They turned out really well, except for my stupid oven that somehow shot up to 400° after I turned it down (was supposed to be at 300, was at 350). The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender anyway.
partiallysunny, you could totally feed these little guys. They're adorable. I went on a walk around the aviary with an Andean condor named Andy. He has a 10 ft wingspan and he likes to walk around and meet new friends.

this week in general has been kind of a bust for me. My "Day off" on Wednesday, included scrubbing (literally with a scrub brush) my ENTIRE bathroom, taking DS to his doctor appointment and then going in to work to deal with an emergency with the one employee I supervise...
Then yesterday after H left for work, I got up and once again got out my scrub brush and tackled the kitchen floor. H likes to use Mop & Glo on the floor and it leaves this gross coating on it. After a while you have to strip the coating off because your floor always looks dirty no matter how often you mop. After that, I got my ribs started in the roaster, made potatoes and got them ready to go in the oven, prepped the rest of the food for that evening, and cleaned the rest of the house. By the time everyone showed up yesterday I was ready for bed.
But, I'm back at work today smiling that I don't have to clean up the aftermath of the fireworks extravaganza that happened last night.
Everyone here that was on call yesterday looks exhausted. I was kind of hoping it'd be quiet for all of them, but nope. The attending who's on all weekend stopped by my office on his way back to the OR after taking a nap in his office, he still looked tired. I can't imagine what the residents look like.
I got a good look at myself in the mirror, I'm not looking so hot either--haven't been sleeping well, so I have nice dark circles under my eyes.
One of the clinical staff was trying to get me to leave early, but I still have work to do and someone needs to man the phones.
