I just started Instructions for a Heatwave by Maggie O'Farrell, which I won in a Goodreads giveaway. Seems good but I've only read a handful of pages.
QOTW: Christmas is my favorite, because I love all the traditions and decorations, plus I love presents (giving, receiving, shopping and choosing... Love it all!). Holidays are not usually good for reading time -- even small holidays tend to have a lot of people-time, travel, and preparations, all of which cut into reading time.
I am reading "Life After Life" by Kate Atkinson. For some reason I had a hard time getting into it at first, but now I am really enjoying it!
QOTW: Thanksgiving - it's the one time of the year I get to see some of my extended family that I really like. Not so good for reading, except maybe in the two hour car ride each way, but my husband gets annoyed when I do that.
I'm still reading the same three books I was last Friday, so that's pretty boring.
HP and the Order of the Phoenix (re-read) Heroic Efforts (a search and rescue book) 1632 (on Kindle)
I'm traveling for work again on Monday so I'll make more progress on 1632 then.
QOTW: Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday. Lots of good food and time to spend with family without all of the stress of finding gifts for everybody. Also, for us growing up we always just got together with relatives in our city so Thanksgiving meant no travel, but for Christmas we were always flying around the country to see more distant relatives.

I'm reading The Elite by Kiera Cass (#2 in the Selection trilogy). It's a fluffy dystopian YA version of The Bachelor. And the main character is named America, which I thought was appropriate for this week's holiday, lol.
QOTW: Thanksgiving because it's all about food, football and family, which are some of my favorite things.
I finally (finally!) finished The Brothers Karamasov by Fyodor Dostoevsky. I'm not sure I'd recommend it .
I'm in the middle of March by Geraldine Brooks which I picked up as a lighter book than the Russian epic, but then it wasn't. I think I need to find something else.
QOTW: Thanksgiving because it's the largest family get together for us. I always think that I'll read a lot over a holiday, but socializing always takes precedent.
I'm attempting to finish Inheritence after I stopped reading it a year ago. I also started The Handmaids Tale on my kindle because I can't read actual books with my kids around.
Holloween is my favorite holiday and while I usually get through a bunch of scary books in Oct I usually find holidays hard to read during. Too much going on.
I just started The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian and I am about 30 pages in and thoroughly enjoying it!
QOTW: I guess I'll go with Thanksgiving as my favorite. I just love the traditional Turkey Day foods. As far as reading, I will manage to find some time no matter what day it is!

Reading Murder in the Museum. It's okay. It was a find in a cheapie bin at Wal-Mart. I doubt I'll read the rest of the series, but it was certainly worth $4.
QOTD: I love Christmas for the music, and the decorations, and the whole "Peace on Earth; Goodwill towards Men" aspect of the season. But I think Thanksgiving is my favorite because there is no stress about gifts, and there is football! It depends on what's happening around the holiday if it's good for reading. If it's a busy time with lots of people around, it will suck for reading. If it's a quiet, just the immediate family, no travelling, nothing happening holiday, it's great for reading.
My favorite holiday is Halloween. It's in my favorite season/month, and I just love the feelings and scary books and shows. Not horror films, more like things like Hocus Pocus and It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.
Generally holidays are a good time for reading, because I travel to visit family, so planes and cars are good for books, plus down time with family (not cooking or cleaning myself).
I'm a little over halfway through The Next Always, book one in the Inn Boonsboro trilogy by Nora Roberts. It's pretty good so far. The characters are all adorable. But they keep going on about the renovations and I get bored because I don't know what any of it means. It's book #15 for the year.
QOTW: My favorite holiday is either Christmas. Not for religious reasons necessarily. I get to see all my family and eat good food and I love shopping for presents and Christmas movies and hot cocoa and baking desserts.
Bonus book related question: Holidays are a good time. I love seeing all my family and then ending the day cozied up on the couch with a good book and some cocoa or coffee. Plus I am still a grad student so I have tons of free time during holidays!
I have 3 borrowed library kindle books and hope to read at least one of them this week at the beach: warmth of other suns, the book thief and exotic marigold hotel.

A warning: I was an emotional mess while reading The Book Thief, and would not think it would be the best at the beach -- sand and tears are not a great mix.
I can't speak as to the other books, but I'd keep The Book Thief for in the hotel room/condo.

Better or worse than Fault in our stars? I don't necessarily gravitate to light reading on the beach, I just want it to engage me. But thanks for the warning.
Warmth of other suns isn't beach reading either so far but it's pretty good so far though I'm a little put off by her skipping around the narrative for the first vignette.

I haven't read The Fault in Our Stars, so I can't say. I cried big, ugly tears reading The Book Thief -- I was sitting at my desk in the office and had to explain to several people walking by that it was the book and nothing was really wrong. I wouldn't call The Book Thief really heavy reading as such; it's a fairly straightforward story, but it is an emotional ride.
Last week I read "It Starts with Food" regarding the Whole30 program. I was ehh on it.
My plans for getting a ton of reading done poolside were squashed by 5 straight days of rain
QOTW: I love Christmas (everything about it), but I also love the 4th of July. My family does a huge cookout by the pool, shuffleboard tournament, drinking (lots.), and fireworks (the kind that are illegal in GA--my Uncle puts on a better show than then county!). This year's was a bit...wet...thanks to aforementioned rain and flooding, but we still had a good time
