Cost of Rearing a Child Rises to $234,000
Having kids is expensive, as if parents needed to be told that. But the US government issued a report today quantifying just how expensive: For a child born now, it will cost an average of $234,900 to raise them, and that’s just to age 18. The total cost is up 3.5 percent from a year ago, according to the US Department of Agriculture report. Child care and education, transportation and food had the biggest cost jumps.
Do you know how much [whatever the fuck you want] you could buy with that? lol
Also, I don't know why, but I was not shocked at that number. I thought it would be higher. I must add in compensation for pain and suffering when I think of how much kids cost.
I was also reading an article the other day (sorry no link) that said it 20 years cost of one year at a public university will be able $40k and at a private university $100k.
Oh, man. That's a lot of money...if I spend that much on a kid, s/he better become the next Bill Gates or Mark Zuckerberg so that I can live in total comfort in my older years. I'd need some return on my investment!

I think all the places I will vacation in the next 18 years will further justify this decision. Do you know the fabulous trips we can take with over $200K?!?!

I am pretty sure you could plan at least one trip to each continent for that price. That is my plan over the next 18 years.
