It's something I have been thinking of doing (my weight has been creeping up on my over the years) and I'm finally in the mindset to change my lifestyle completely.
I do well on following a regimen, and I know this was hugely popular years ago. I'm picking up the book today (though I've read a few bloggers who went through it).
If you've done it (or known anyone who is/has done it), what is your perception on their program? What were the biggest challenges? When did you start noticing a change in your body? Did you feel that you "free" day of eating was good/bad?
I think it would be too low fat for me. Good fats keep you satiated and full between meals and this program is pretty low fat. The again, you're eating 6 times a day so maybe that's not an issue here.
I have 2 friends that did it years ago. (These are his actual photos: hillseekerfitness.com/transformation). They now own a Crossfit Gym. YMMV, and doing BFL doesn't guarantee owning your own gym.
Ok, so when I saw this post this weekend, I looked it up, was intrigued, bought the book, signed up for the challenge and started this morning with my upper body strength training. I'm actually really excited. I've always been fairly active, have run 2 half-marathons, but have never been good about strength training.
I love how structured it is, that's exactly what I need. Tell me what to do on which day, and I will do it. I'm sure most on this board don't need that, but I really do. I think the eating strategy really makes sense too, plenty of food, (I plan to also track on myfitnesspal just to be sure). I also love the idea of a free day, not to go crazy, but just to mentally keep away that feeling of deprivation.
I'm curious to see how the cardio goes tomorrow, I need to read up on the plan a bit.
So, tamarindtully , if you do it, would love to hear how it goes for you!
Whoa! That is awesome! My DH is picking up the book today for me and I'll start reading it this week. I have a few very busy weeks ahead of me, and am thinking of starting this at the end of August.
Do you have a MFP account? I'll follow you! I plan on reading, and also setting up some meal plans for a full week before I begin.
My husband and I both did it about 10 years ago. We stuck with it for about 8-9 weeks until we went on vacation and derailed after that I only wanted to lose 5-7 pounds and I think I easily did that in the time we did the diet. I also got really good muscle tone. I was never really hungry and in fact felt like I was eating too much. Some days I'd only eat 5 meals. Looking back on pictures of myself during that time makes me want to do it again.
